That's correct but one that does have to do with the players still hurts a team, right? That was the only comparison is that locker room problems hurt teams.

Depends on the locker room. And again, nothing to do with Penn St.

It's a comparison...Penn State's locker room problems will hurt them. Montana's locker room problems will also hurt them. They don't have anything to do with each other, they're a comparison. Comparing is a common tool used among debaters. It's defined as "to point out the resemblances to; liken to." The on-field performance from Montana will likely be effected by off-field issues...as will Penn State. That's called a comparison.

If they don't have anything to do with each other, how can you use them as a comparison? :dontgetit Now the 'contrast' part of 'compare and contrast' maybe.....

We haven't beat y'all since 2006. I just hope we can hold you under 30 and give you a game this October. The Calvinists on the other hand...different story.

Why don't you drop some knowledge on us about Missoula over in the FlameFans Meet-Up thread, wideflame? Particularly in regard to places to stay & eat.

I used to travel up there quite a bit but haven't been in a decade (had to cancel that leg of family road trip last summer to fly to Belgium). But most fo my expertise is in the Bitterroot Valley.

They share the similarity of having a locker room problem that likely will effect their on-field performance. The actual problem is different, the programs are different...etc but the fact that they both have a problem that likely effects how they perform is a similarity.

Yes. I do believe all of the teams you mentioned actually do provide locker rooms. I stand corrected.

LOL I still don't understand why you would compare a hungry to win coach(not a problem) to a hungry sexual predator coach. Its not even apples to oranges. Its like comparing Dirt to a purple cow!

I think his point (though not well made) is that the aftermath of the Penn State situation will cause problems within the team dynamic in the locker room, much like the Ohio State and USC situations he referenced earlier.

And that is where they would be wrong. USC and OSU were player driven scandals (as is Montana). The Penn St situation was an issue involving, at the time, former and current coaches with NOTHING to do with the players. One would be a felony and cover up. The other, violations of NCAA rules, except in Montana's case.
Every team has locker room distractions.

Yeah, practically half of the Penn State team is leaving, their legendary coach is dead and the program won't see a bowl for four years...I'm sure that has no effect on the players.

It won't affect the players who are not there. Being Bowl ineligible will have more of an impact on recruiting not so much on the players still there...
I'd go on, but I don't want another email telling me to ease up on you, so go on and enjoy yourself.
