Looks like Coastal's biggest donor, who is also acting as their head coach this year, has put in a plan to improve gameday. Just to clarify, there are 65 suggestions, not 54.

http://www.goccusports.com/sports/m-foo ... 12aac.html

Here are some that relate to the Band.
Band
• Comment: Marching band in parking lots
15. Change marching band pregame route to stadium by passing through student tailgate area. To create a parade atmosphere, fans will be encouraged to join the procession as they make their way to the games. The band will also serve as a reminder that the game is beginning soon.
* Create route that passes by student tailgate as well as Alumni tailgate area. Parade type atmosphere is the goal.

• Comment: Bigger marching band
16. Marching band will put more emphasis on recruiting in the attempt to reach a size of 25 additional members in 2012

• Comment: More marching band
17. Marching band will play 65 to 70% of music during games.
NOTE: Does not include times when band is not in stadium or prepping for an on-field performance.

• Comment: Have more updated songs by band
18. Band will introduce new songs to repertoire.

• Comment: Play fight song more
19. Band will play the CCU Fight Song more during games.

• Comment: Better halftimes (see also video board)
20. Band will enhance halftime performances.

• Comment: Help fans learn fight song
21. Band will play CCU Fight Song more frequently during games. CCU athletics will also frequently display words to fight song on new video board.

22. Fight song lyrics will also be on drink cups.
* New this year CCU concessions will offer both 20oz. and 32oz. drink cups with CCU fight song.
* CCU Bookstore has added coffee mugs and blankets with the fight song lyrics.
* At all orientations after President's message, students and parents were taught the fight song and CINO cheer. All were asked to participate during each session.
* Videoboard graphics with fight song lyrics will be created.
* Fight song lyrics will be included in football gameday program.

• Comment: Band is hard to hear (due to size)
23. Explore professional PA system in band seating section.
* Will be priced out by Athletics and CCU music department.

Here is a bizarre one:
Halftime
• Comment: Let fans tailgate at halftime
45. CCU Athletics will develop a policy for fans to exit the stadium at halftime and return at the beginning of the third quarter. This policy will be announced prior to beginning of season.
Increase concessions, and Band halftime performance, so that the fans can leave for halftime?

NC State does this. I guess it works.

Confused by the need for a policy here at all. Maybe I can help tho:

POLICY FOR LEAVING AT HALFTIME

1. Get up
2. Walk out
3. Come back
4. Sit down

Exactly. I'm sure there's a policy like this at a lot of schools. I know that Duke allows this. It encourages more people to come to games since they know they'll be allowed to tailgate and drink during halftime.

Ha. We both know the only thing that encourages people to go to dook football games is the opposing team's fans. Then again, if I were a dook football fan, I'd probably have to resort to drinking each game, too.

UNC has 188 more wins, 21 more bowl appearances, 9 more consensus All-Americans, and won 21 of the last 22 head-to-head.

How many times have you been to both of these stadiums?

As discussed many times, it's no secret that dook football is "teh suck" when it comes to major conferences.

I only brought it up because blwall decided to talk about Duke (not Dook). Ive never had a dog in the Duke-UNC fight.

Anyway, I think its good to see CCU be proactive and try to improve the gameday experience. I know that the experience at Liberty is light years ahead of where it was even 6 or 7 years ago. It could use some improvement yes but it certainly is good to see so many people tailgating along University Blvd on a Saturday afternoon or early evening

I thought it was Dook...all these years and I had it wrong the whole time. Thanks for pointing that out BJ!

First, it's spelled "Duke" and second, its been a struggle for us ever since the 'ol ball coach left back in 89, we're still recovering Crybaby

That has been nice, I would love to end the UNC and WF streaks this year some kind of bad. I'm really hoping to watch both my alma mater's tear into the deacons this year!

That all hinges on the defense this year. The offense is easily in the top half of the conference, but our defense has lost so many games over the past couple of years. I think we'll beat UNC but Wake has seemed to have our number. If we can get passed FIU, Wake and Miami we should be in a bowl. I'm just glad someone else on this board appreciates Duke football!
