It was a bit of a low blow, but it made me laugh so I guess it makes it ok haha.

I guess this thread shows SuperJon and Coach Toman are both on the same grade level.

My point exactly. No critique here Haize?

Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.

For a name like logic, you sure do engage in many fallacies.

And Summer's Eves get preachy on message boards.

Yeah. I saw that posted on Facebook and on signs at the mall too. So what does it mean when some discuss the ideas behind an event in a persons life? Genius? :dontgetit

It's a message board.

People post opinions.

Fans don't have to toe the party line.

I want the best for my school. In my opinion, that means we need a new baseball coach.

That is ok, and you've stated as much, on/in many various threads, but you remove credibility from your opinion when you post in such ways as the one that started this thread. No need. State your opinion and move on. This is a person's career we're talking about here and you make a mockery of it.

I'm mocking him, not his career. He wants out. He has for a while. He's tired of having to recruit to Liberty and its rules and class load. He also can't beat Gilmore. The Big South is a one-bid league unless you can beat Coastal. He can't. He knows he's gone as far as he can here. I say goodbye.

I thought it was funny. It reminded me of the VERY old SNL skit where Jim Bakker and Oral Roberts said 'a prayer against you'.

Maybe Toman is mocking you also then. Like I said you two are then on same grade level.

If a joke wasn't funny the first time, it won't be the second time either.

I knew this thread was popcorn worthy. Seriously its a message board. If you don't want to be criticized as a coach don't get upset at what people say on message boards. better yet just don't even read them. Toman did both and probably still does. he obviously felt the need to respond to Jon's earlier criticism this past year and Jon just obliged. Not a big deal. it was actually pretty stinkin funny.

This thread needs Michael W Smiths 'Pray For Me' as its sound track!

One thing I like about this site is that allows both homers and critics (who I think are mostly genuine fans) to share THEIR views.
My take on this thread
It is really kind of funny. It helps take the edge of of a serious subject.
It was informative - I didn't know about the interview(s)
I hope this is not lost on the Administration . My opinion is that when a Head Coach interviews for another school he is done here as soon as his contract is up or he can be released.
Liberty is now mostly in a position as being The Destination and not the stepping stone and good riddance to steppers. Our recent steppers range from liars to failures (does not include Rocco)
Everyone from JFJR to Joe the dishwasher has opinions and our leaders need exposure to them. If you just like hearing yourself - move on, if you just like ripping things - move on, if you can't say anything but yes - move on. Girls trying to join the Boy Scouts is not a positive
thing. If you aren't wholeheartedly in on Jerry's vision - move on. There are plenty of other schools out there.
Thank you SJ

Something tells me Liberty would have no shortage of potential hires with the new stadium on the horizon. Inconvenient, but we would have no problem finding a replacement.

Liberty as a destination v a stepping stone? I love Liberty but how could you fault a guy or gal who has an interview with a team from a 'Power Conference'?

Exactly.

I don't fault him at all. Liberty is a stepping stone kind of a job. Anybody who thinks otherwise is just kidding themselves. I know Jon doesn't think that though.

Of course if you state something along the lines of "I am finally where God wants me to be, I am home"...then a couple years later leave after your prized recruit transfers, that is a whole other scenario...haha

You can't make a blanket statement like that regarding power conference. The program won the 2nd most games in school history, knocked off unc and uva, and is in the process of building a brand new facility. That shows a ton of financial commitment. Who knows what conference we wind up in with the feasibility study, but it will almost certainly be better than the Big South. Maryland is a dumpster fire and won't spend anything on baseball. I dont know much at about MTSU but these 2 jobs are lateral at best imho. This clearly means toman is looking for a way out and won't be fully vested in the program and what stands for UNLESS he is using this a tool for more money for himself and staff.

regardless of all of that it is still the ACC and a step up from us currently and does not have the recruiting challenges liberty has. I also am of the belief our baseball program will be better off by him moving on. It will be a step up for him and also a step up for us. Its a win, win situation....
