Both McDonalds in Forest are also hiring.

Have him fill out paperwork at some of the temp agencies (Manpower, Kelly, etc), sometimes they have the best jobs available, and they can get him something right away.

Sometimes you also have to look where you normally wouldn't. When I was 12 I got certified as a soccer ref, so I had steady weekend work until I could drive. During my summer breaks in college I worked grounds crew at golf courses (one I found posted on a peg board at LU). Mail America in Forest is usually hiring, I worked there once in college through a temp agency. There are tons of businesses around, the hard part is figuring out how they find their employees.

My 18 year old has been looking for a job this summer, Rooster, and he is determined to find one without my help. He is still looking but has some leads. When we went to Disney World earlier this year, I kept noticing that most of the employees had gray hair, including the ones who were loading the rides, managing the lines, working the concession stands. I hadn't been there in a long time but I remembered young people in those roles. In fact, when I was in college, I remember a lot of people my age going to work at Disney during the summers and even after they graduated. I asked around and they said what someone said in this thread. Older folks who had retired to Florida lost most of the money in their 401K funds in 2008 and were forced to go back to work and take the low paying jobs that used to go to teenagers. I'm sure Florida is not the only place where that has happened.
