In retail: Old Navy, JC Penney, Aeropostale and Staples are all hiring.
Both McDonalds in Forest are also hiring.

Have him fill out paperwork at some of the temp agencies (Manpower, Kelly, etc), sometimes they have the best jobs available, and they can get him something right away.

Sometimes you also have to look where you normally wouldn't. When I was 12 I got certified as a soccer ref, so I had steady weekend work until I could drive. During my summer breaks in college I worked grounds crew at golf courses (one I found posted on a peg board at LU). Mail America in Forest is usually hiring, I worked there once in college through a temp agency. There are tons of businesses around, the hard part is figuring out how they find their employees.

InService America is hiring, but the downside is you work Sunday morning so he wont get to be in church.

I understand the feeling...I think my spiritual life regressed while I was there.

JLFJR wrote:My 18 year old has been looking for a job this summer, Rooster, and he is determined to find one without my help. He is still looking but has some leads. When we went to Disney World earlier this year, I kept noticing that most of the employees had gray hair, including the ones who were loading the rides, managing the lines, working the concession stands. I hadn't been there in a long time but I remembered young people in those roles. In fact, when I was in college, I remember a lot of people my age going to work at Disney during the summers and even after they graduated. I asked around and they said what someone said in this thread. Older folks who had retired to Florida lost most of the money in their 401K funds in 2008 and were forced to go back to work and take the low paying jobs that used to go to teenagers. I'm sure Florida is not the only place where that has happened.

ATrain, the tennis coach job at LCA is open again if you are interested because your successor married my sister this past weekend!

Tell your sister congratulations on her marriage. I wish her much happiness and your son success in finding a job.

4everfsu and ATrain, I'll pass your well wishes on to my sister. Thank you! Congrats and best of luck to Rooster, Jr. My son will like your post, blwall, especially if he actually finds a job. He had an interview yesterday and it looks good for him. Now, if I can convince him to skip Floydfest! :)

We should do a Flame Fans lunch there (or have them host BJ's bachelor party!).

You really should. I mean if you were a stand up guy and all. I know I would if we're getting married. But since I'm already married I can't.
