Yeah, I saw that video earlier this week. It's incredible how fast that tarp was moving. I don't know what they would have done if the lights went out at that stadium with those guys stuck underneath.

The derecho moved through Chicago around 2pm ET. So it couldn't have been in Chicago, it's dark in that picture

edit: That video was shot in Beckley, WV. Sorry I know im being nitpicky :?

Mine is still out. And two houses on my street got robbed in the dark last night. I'm not a very nice person right now.

That kind of thing irritates me so much. Just like in Colorado people getting their houses robbed while they were evacuated. Its bad enough people stealing stuff out of people's homes. It makes it even worse when they take advantage of some kind of disaster to make it easier for them...

I'm out of town. You can borrow my shotgun.

Just know that Haize's "shotgun" involves 12 cans and some sort of metal-piercing object.

Shotgun? I would have thought that Purple packed one of those black powder long rifles, like the Mountaineer guy fires off at the beginning of each WVU football game. You only get one shot, so make it a good one.

My power came on at 2:30 yesterday afternoon ... still seeing some friends up off Boonsboro Road and in Amherst without power. Too hot for that. Hopefully they get it restored soon.

Obviously I'm not down in your area, but folks up here in the Arlington and Alexandria areas are still without power and we just had a severe thunderstorm warning issued for the entire DC metro area until 10 with the possibility of hail and winds up to 60-70mph again. Just finished filling the tubs to have some backup water to fill the toilets in case we lose power for a few more days.

I don't think anything as severe as last Friday will happen in your area.

All I can say is that was a real disaster up in the 24503. I had to fly on July 4th to see the damage to my house which included a large tree limb impaled into the upstairs bedroom and a corner taken out by another limb. I had no idea it was that serious. My power was not restored until 7/9 in the morning. Luckily I was able to find a hotel--the Wingate! Thanks to Steamway for getting out and tarping the roof as soon as the tree was removed. Repairs begin Monday.

Wow, that is some pretty bad damage. That was a HEAVY tree that fell. I was amazed I didn't have any fall, I typically do in the smaller windstorms.

I meant to post this earlier but keep watch out for tomorrow's storms. Could be another derecho, however probably not as strong as the last one. Here's a very good piece if you're a nerd like me.

I was just talking to a meteorologist friend of mine and he isnt seeing that on any of the models he has seen. That may change when the models turn over in the morning but as of now he isnt seeing any real threats of a derecho or anything similar

We'll see. It'll be a fun day for me since I love these things. Well not when they ruin lives but yeah.

We should know more by morning, but if there's one bit of good news its that whatever happens will be during the day.
