If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

The Big East is beyond desperate to remain relevant. Although yes I'm extremely biased.

It's too bad that the basketball only schools, led by Providence, have ruined the Big East in football. The conference has actually done well in BCS bowl games but the complete lack of leadership has all but killed them off. If not for the AQ status, the Big East would be the WAC at this point.

That is what many were saying several months ago when the league dropped down to just two remaining football programs. But every indication is that the NCAA is willing to work with the league to allow them to save the conference by offering some waivers.

PS - That Honolulu article is a year old.

Thoughts as to why we're not hearing anything on the WAC meetings -

1. Nothing is actually happening worth reporting
2. No one cares enough to talk about it on the net

Not sure which is worse. Will the WAC be releasing some kind of official statement today, similar to CUSA?

Probably because is started out as a basketball conference and a pretty darn good one at that.

CUSA would be the big prize...they're still looking to expand. MTSU, Delware, FAU, or another SunBelt school are all possibilities. It's a .000001% chance, but here's to CUSA! :clapping

Nice job Jim Carrey. Want to hear the most annoying sound ever? Plus the fee won't be a problem because we filled out IOU's :D

I think Conference USA made the statement that they are still looking to expand to hurt the WAC's chances of getting commitments from 6 football schools. Some schools may be hesitant to join the WAC if they think that a Conference USA invite may be in their future. However, I think if the WAC administrators and school administrators think this through, they should simply ignore Conference USA's statement. There is no guarantee that they will be one of the chosen schools. The Wac should invite 6 more schools for football only this year. Then they should immediately annouce intentions to try to expand basketball and olympic sports to two eight team divisions to cut down on travel. By 2015 the wac could be on stable footing with eastern and western olympic conferences and a combined football conference...it would be competitive compared with with the mac and sunbelt, with better travel costs than confUSA.

Since LU has no club sports going on in the summer, can't someone send BJ out there on assignment? He's our only hope for breaking news!

You guys are smarter than me and faster than google... so... What is Liberty's total athletic budget? Projected?

I'm just reading articles and seeing budget numbers but have no idea what to compare it to. Thanks in advance to the speedy response below.

Not sure how accurate this is though as in 2010 we spent 26 million.

I'm not sure what to make of that tweet. I hesitate to read too much into the wording. But my first reaction is that football & non-football schools may no tbe on the same page. That is bad news if true.
