I would say its a mentality. We are recruiting football by talking about where we hope to be in the future. We do it to some extent in other sports. My point is that while it does not affect game plans etc, it possibly invades the psyche in many ways. Perhaps the 'entitlement ' mentality that several people on this board mention. It certainly DOES affect perceptions.

And that is what I was responding too. Obviously we are not going Independent, but if the possibility existed I think it would be better to stay put until an actual offer to an actual conference arrived and we could evaluate it. I agree that if we were in a conference that folded several years down the road then being Independent would be preferable to returning to FCS.

There's 800 flights coming into Denver. None from Lynchburg Multinational Airport.

But there is a general aviation flight from Philadelphia. Breaking News: FF.com can now officially speculate that Liberty is clearly in talks with the NEC

Which is another problem entirely.

For the record, I would assume that if we had representation in Denver that we could have very easily flown commercial. We're not talking about trying to get into Las Cruces, NM or Moscow, ID here.

Nope, that was Medic making a surprise trip to see Barber about one of his numerous "I'm on it" declarations on here. When the pitch on this board concerning a given topic reaches feverous levels, Medic makes a trip to speak to the Barber in-person. You know it!

Purple Haize wrote:...we are NOT only NOT focusing on winning where we are...

5 Sasser Cups in a row and 7 different programs represented at their respective national championships would seem to refute that statement.

1. Golf with the best season ever in Liberty history at 10th in the country
2. Men's soccer to NCAA's
3. Volleyball to NCAA's
4. Swimming placed 44th at NCAA's in just their second year
5. Men's track placed 54th at NCAA's - 6th year in a row scoring points
6. Women's basketball to NCAA's
7. Women's track to NCAA's

Now that men's track scored at NCAA's I believe the next Director's Cup standings will look pretty darn good when they come out on Thursday as they will include golf as well. We should be a top 100 athletic department in the country, ahead of quite a few "big-time" schools already at "the next level." Without golf and men's track factored in right now we're ahead of - Memphis, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Akron, Hawaii, Georgia Southern, Houston, Southern Miss, Colorado State, Nevada, Arkansas State, Rice, FIU, Fresno State, UAB, Utah State, Western Kentucky, Marshall, Tulane, Buffalo, UALR, Ball State, Miami Ohio, New Mexico State, and North Texas.

So Haize...we have a better overall athletic department as of today than all of the above schools I mentioned based on national finishes. This ranking is an objective system simply based on how you score at the national level. No human error to influence. If this is not yet further proof that we do win at this level and that we are ready to move up I am not sure what is.

From 97-2003 we won 5 out of 6 Sasser Cups. No one is arguing our Olympic sports are solid at this level.

And I'm arguing they're already solid at "the next level" as well. I suppose I should just consider every comment about moving up and winning on this thread directed towards football and men's basketball. Play Basketball
