If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

Says who? Just because the Sun Belt closes the door means the WAC or MAC won't move? Whose bigger, the Sun Belt or God? If it's God's will for us to move, we'll move. This likely opens the door for JB to talk to Idaho and NM State about adding some East Coast teams.

I don't know any more than anybody else on the internet but I think the Sun Belt was our golden ticket. MAC and WAC both seem like long shots. This really sucks.

But at the conference JB and JJR said this would take time, and there is still next year with SBC. I think the WAC thing can happen but will take time. The MAC is the great unknown cause they are so quiet.

RC and CJ are right. For one, these things do take time. Just because we are capable of making a decision in 48 hours doesnt mean that the conference is gonna move in 48 hours. There are still chips on the table and JB and the chancellor have no doubt been working on this for some time. Also, the fact is there is still some movement to be had and so I dont think we should just pack up our tent quite yet

This is a statement from WAC commish Jeff Hurd:

WAC Interim Commissioner Jeff Hurd told the Statesman on Wednesday that the league continues to explore every option available. The WAC's Board of Directors will meet June 11-12 in Denver.

"We've spent the last four to six weeks going through various options we think are viable for us and looking at those different possibilities," Hurd said. "We're trying to move forward. We're trying to survive as a viable conference and maintain an FBS-level entity with the WAC. We're going to exhaust every possible option out there."

Have to believe that if JB and JJR are on the phone with them, a WAC East division is an option.

I understand how things take time but I also understand that there's (unsubstantiated) talk of bringing the moratorium back, which means we may only have a window of a few years. The new WAC idea seems to be a 5+ year plan. Who knows what the MAC is doing. We can't even really talk about that other than they exist.

On a side note, with as much money that is involved with FBS and bowl games, I don't know how the NCAA would not get sued by an FCS team if they were told you're now allowed to switch subdivisions if you can meet some kind of minimum funding requirements. I'm no law-talker but seems like a pretty easy case to make for a bunch of big boys colluding against a few smaller guys to keep them away from their pile of cash.

Mac isn't expanding either, for at least right now. I know alot of people are doubting the WAC getting East teams but i think there is a good possibility of forming.

If FSU and Clemson go to the Big 12 then Sun Belt and MAC will get raided so there is still a chance for those conferences.

Mahre doesn't even have a positive imagine in the Academic world (medicine kills people. omg and women are whores) so i'm not worried about that. He and his followers have been bashing religious people, religious schools, and the church for a long time. It's not like some new blood is forming, it's already has been there. i mean elitist people already had the same uninformed view of Liberty before his rant so nothing changes.

You don't know that. Rumor is they invited JMU and they turned it down yesterday, if they truly were willing to invite JMU, why wouldn't they be willing to go 90 miles further south and invite us. The truth is no one knows until it is all over.. I am extremely po'ed at the SB right now though

This is a good call. More movement could open them back up. And really, the super conferences are leaving less and less to choose from.

We've parsed out the WAC idea before. I just don't think there's enough teams available soon enough or that are serious enough to fill out a full league. There's the 2 currently in it. We'd be willing which makes 3. There are some other options we always talk about but most of them seem like they think they're too good for a make shift league like that. QUote from ealier:

1. Liberty
2. App State
3. James Madison
4. Georgia Southern
5. Montana
6. Jacksonville State
App state I think is just going to wait for something better (although I don't think anybody wants what they bring to the table. We just need a live body)
JMU thinks they're too good for that and I don't think they're going to move up anyway.
Georgia Southern? I don't know too much about them but apparently there's some kind of 8 year plan?
Montana already said no when the WAC was a real conference.
I don't know anything about Jax St so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say ok.

So that's 4 teams. Maybe 5 in 8 years. Could you convince 4 current FBS teams to jump from wherever they are over to this? No. No TV deal would give you enough money. Originally, I thought this was going to be our best option but it just doesn't seem like enough schools are as serious about this as we are. They just like being in the speculation.

So here's to the super conferences raiding the middle guys leaving no other options but us to stay alive! :woohoo

Sorry if FSU and Clemson goes to the Big 12, ACC will not raid the Sun Belt and MAC. ACC will go after Connecticut and Rugters more likely. They would fit in the ACC basketball mind set easily.

There has been talk about Idaho moving back to FCS.

Just because the Sun Belt says they aren't doing anymore at this point, doesn't mean the door is shut forever guys. Don't forget all of this started at the top with the internal disputes inside of the Big 12, which resulted in Mizz and A&M jumping ship to the SEC. Then you had the ACC raiding the Big East... Therefore, ANY movement by one of these top conferences has repercussions for the lower tier FBS conferences, including the Sun Belt. With the addition of a 4 team playoff based on Conference Champions, you can bet your bottom dollar that there is going to be more movement by the Power Conferences vying for one of those spots.

You guys shouldn't be so quick to become discouraged. There is a long way to go in this process and we all (@Liberty University) believe that it is our mission to go. How many universities can say that?

IMO, we are going to have to wait till the next round. It would seem prudent for these conferences to see how the dust settles and go from there. I'm sure this opinion will annoy the LaCarreta crowd :D

This is true. And despite protestations to the contrary I think our lack of competitiveness and / or winning tradition didn't do us any favors. I would say THAT hurts us more then whatever some irrelevant person on an irrelevant show says. But that is just me :D
