Big South Conference Tournament
High Point, NC
May 22-26

Coy O. Williard Stadium/George S. Erath Field
Capacity-550

Flames Record- 38-18 0verall, 14-10 Big South

Tournament is split in two pods:
Pod 1
1. Coastal
4. Gardner-Webb
5. Radford
8. Charleston Southern

Pod 2
2. Campbell
3. Liberty
6. UNC-Asheville
7. High Point

LU faces #6 UNCA at 4:30 tuesday.

John Niggli will start game one, but after that its anyone's guess. This is a good pod for the Flames since they would not have to face Coastal until the championship, but will be a tough pod in opening up with UNCA who won the regular reason series. LU did win the season series with Campbell and High Point.

Each Liberty contest will be broadcast LIVE on WWMC 90.9 "The Light" FM by Nick Pierce during the tournament. The broadcasts will be available at LibertyFlames.com.

All games Tuesday-Friday will be video streamed live on the Big South Network presented by State Farm. Tournament games will be available daily via the $6.95 Day Pass -- which covers all games played that respective day -- or the $19.95 Championship Pass, which features all the tournament games played prior to Saturday. In addition, real-time "Live Stats" will be available on both the Big South's and High Point's websites and LibertyFlames.com free of charge.

UNCA is definitely a winnable game. Their pitchers happened to have the weekend of their lives when we played them, I dont expect another performance like that Tuesday

Dull vs. Niggli - a repeat of regular season game in which we lost 2-0.

Bee-jay the ultimate homer. UNCA may have had an exceptional weekend against us but they have always given LU fits. I would think Dull who is easily one of the top five pitchers in the league could given them a few innings but this is a plus for LU.

Its double elimination within your pod. 1 plays 8, 4 plays 5, etc...winners play, losers play then continue until one team in each pod is left standing

How are you guy's feeling heading into the tourney about our chances. I haven't posted the last few weeks, I've been too irritated witht the losses so i figured it's better to be quiet :?

It seems to me that it's going to be very hard to win this tournament with only one reliable starting pitcher and that is exactly what we have right now. Good news is we have a ton of guys throwing well in relief so we can pull the hook quick, and we seem to be swinging the bats about as well as we have all year. I'd love to see the bats come out and put up a big lead so we could save niggs for later in the week, or have him go the whole way and save the bankempers for later in the week. It seems clear to me that we will go as far as the starting pitching carries us. If we are able to get a 2-3 good starts we can win the tourney. If we only get one from niggs then have to tax the bullpen the next two days we will get crushed on Saturday if we can survive that long.

Unless you push straight through to the Championship Game without a loss, pitching depth typically determines success in these style of tourneys. We'll need to have some surprise pitchers step up in addition to our usual lot. Conversely we need to feast on the end of other staffs.

Yes...everybody plays today, winners play, losers play, then its fun and merriment until one team in each bracket is left then its one game for the championship

2 outs in the bottom of the 7th and the CSU pitcher Strikes out the CCU batter but the ball gets away on a wild pitch. Runner on 1st. Then Bowman wlks. Then Whitten with the 3 run HR. 7-5 CSU in the top of the 8th. UGH!

CSU just got another run, 8-5 heading to the bottom 8th.

I can't fathom us in an elim game tomorrow against Coastal. On the contrary, how sweet would it be to knock them out in two games.
