BJWilliams wrote:THey certainly have given the process due diligence (despite the hand wringing going on places like on here). Mr Carr said that it wasnt that it was necessarily a difficult process, just very time consuming (as it should be...just because a fan base says jump, doesnt mean we have to or ask how high)

Is this the phrase of the week for you Beej?

Its about the best way I can describe some of the people on here because they arent consulting with us and posting information for our benefit and there was and is concern on here about the process.

Langs series of Note tweets from the presser:
Highlights from Liberty's FBS presser today, in Cliff's notes form:
1. LU has had initial conversations with more than 1 conference ...
AD Jeff Barber would not specify which conferences.
2. LU could make decision on any offer within 48 hrs, per chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr.
3. LU is fully funded, scholarship and coach wise, in all 20 intercollegiate sports.
4. In-house TV package is another attractive point. ...
5. LU is being proactive in seeking conference affiliation, not sitting back on hands ... is seeking an all-sports move, not just football.
6. Falwell informed Big South presidents/CEOs on Friday, the night before making announcement.
7. Falwell said there is a "nominal" exit fee for leaving the Big South, something in the five-figure range. Nothing exorbitant.
8. Falwell said he's been in conversation with some other schools looking to move up from FCS to FBS. ...
9. Expansion of Williams Stadium to 25,000 seats imminent, could begin after final 2012 home game. 2nd deck would be on student side.
10. Liberty has exceeded $1 billion in net assets. The online program has a lot to do with that cashflow.

Well, i would love if this press conference would reveal alum82 and the place where he/she buys their weed. That would be groundbreaking.

Liberty University has intentions to leave the Big South Conference and move from the Football Championship Subdivision to the Football Bowl Subdivision. How soon will that take place? At a news conference Monday afternoon, Liberty said they cannot say it will be the near future but it will be in the future.

Liberty has already generated excitement for its football program but imagine what it would be like with a team from the Big Ten or the ACC facing the Flames. University President Jerry Falwell, Jr. said he remembered a sermon his father had in 1974. "One day we were going to play Southern Cal, Notre Dame, I forget what other schools he mentioned, maybe Alabama in football and back then it just seemed like a pipe dream," he recollected.

I think we are all stoked addict. This is a big step and to know that we are in a position to make a decision that quickly (the 48 hour comment by I think it was Barber) shows that it isnt a matter of IF at this point...but when as it relates to an FBS conference home (and I know its gonna make for absolute craziness in my office when that email comes down)

Not only that, but Bill Carr could be one of the wisest men I've ever seen. It seemed almost everything he said was dripping with wisdom. He was the perfect one to conduct the study.

Or, to talk in lingo that our friends Sly and Sum can understand:

You can tell that this "wasn't his first rodeo." 8)

True feelings. Sorry dripping was a terrible adjective :?

I am most impressed by our attitude of aggression. Not only does Mr. Carr say we are the most ready to go, but we are the most ready to act and do what it takes quickly. I feel like ASU is fairly aggressive, maybe Ga So too. I feel like JMU has been really quiet, and others fit that too.

We seem to be the one going we are ready, we can go right now if needed. There is a ton to be said for the ability of a private institution being ready to make a decision a state university might take months to make.
