Hey Trot. From what I remember, this construction will not start until sometime in the spring to be ready by Spring 2012.
Oh hey, I wonder who said Spring 2012 :?:

the big questioni was told from the project mgr is whether or not to tear down david's place or remodel it for the clubhouse.

The big question he is no doubt asking is which would be more cost effective but at the same time would fulfill the purpose for the baseball team.

David's place needs to go, otherwise the clubhouse will end up looking like the one we already have. And shouldn't a clubhouse go underneath the stadium, attached to the locker room, that is then attached to the dugout?

Go big baby, go big. Spend the money. Christian....better, etc. Go big or go home!

We don't need something quite that big, but we need luxury boxes and a second deck for club/luxury seats. Let us build this thing for 20-30 years from now, not thinking just 5 years down the road. Construction costs are low right now, right? Build baby build!

Not to rain on your parade but, Coastal approved a brand new stadium today.
It will be able to accommodate 5-6,000 people come the 2014 season

My guess is they wanted to wait until after winter for much of the work to begin but I dont think anyone planned for a much milder winter like we have been having (course one good snowstorm and even if they did start now itd be set back)

congrats to your guys and Coach Gilmore- great program down there... but lets be honest about the seating capacity. from your own SID:
GoCCUsports wrote:The 33,000-square-foot baseball project expands the 850-seat Watson Stadium to include 2,500 permanent seats, with the potential to accommodate between 5,000-6,000 for events like an NCAA postseason tournament. The current configuration will accommodate the extra 3,000-plus fans as a result of grass berms down the right and left field lines and a boardwalk around the outfield wall.
LAWN seating. Its cool though- we have tons of lawn seating as well. But we're talking about seats: 2500 is 2500. A good number. The rendering looks sweet tho. http://www.goccusports.com/view.gal?id=110032

From the podcast posted in General Sports forum, here is Jeff Barber with the latest on the stadium project:
Jeff Barber wrote:Baseball stadium is, there's some work being done now and a lot of work being done behind the scenes. And there has been for quite some time on the design and the building phase of all that. There's a road being built right now that will be bringing in a lot of dirt. Just by the location, we have to bring in 90,000 cubic yard of dirt. And there will be a big retaining wall out behind the leftfield wall. But that's moving along nicely. We're really, really excited about that. It will be 2500 chairback seats, a couple of suites and a club room. A new baseball office building with hitting tunnels with weight room and training room and all. And we are opening up, I believe, it is February 22nd with Penn State. We do expect to meet that deadline, of course. Probably the baseball building would not be quite completed. But we expected that from the beginning. But the field and the pressbox and everything else should be. We have several concessions stands, restrooms, souvenir booth. Just a lot of different things there. It will look like a very, very nice minor league stadium. We're excited about that.

Very excited about the new stadium. I love the seats at Coastal with the umbrellas in the outfield, wish we would add those.

I like the souvenir booth. I have been trying to find a LU baseball shirt but the bookstore has not had one in XL forever. I have been trying for the last several years to find one........

Just a thought but will we now need our flames pass to get in the stadium? Will parents and community have to pay to attend the games?

aside from the very few seats that currently exist, there's no way to keep people from just sitting down on the hillside. Think of it as a softball field at the park. How could you charge people who just walk by and sit down?
