Talked to my guy last night and he said it was the best opening practice he's ever had...said team worked hard, practice was well organized & professional, coaches were instructional teachers not yellers or negative motivators...

New staff. Don't know what they have to work with. Seems pretty reasonable to want to limit distractions.

And based on the turnout at Gill's hiring press conference, I think he's under the assumption that more media covers LU on a daily basis than actually does. I know he didn't want a ton of cameras around during practice, and that's understandable. In reality, WSLS, WDBJ and anybody from Richmond or Roanoke only comes to LU on splash occasions, like coach hirings. The only daily media people are myself, Dennis or Justin from WSET and the folks over at FSN. I have a feeling the issue will be revisited after spring ball.

Does WSLS even know we exist?

I happen to know the sports director, so they might come over and report more often.

Considering WSLS, which is in our chain, emailed me about an hour before the Gill presser in December asking me to take a camera over and shoot, I doubt they'll ever show their face around here. It's funny that they thought that a) We have video cameras lying around the newsroom and b) I'd be able to shoot TV-level video.

No naked pictures of Chris Lang need to surface. We want to keep him around Lynchburg as long as possible.

Also, WSLS is more heavily focused on Virginia Tech/NRV, although Roanoke is still primary, it's still pretty obvious they give up on anything say east of Bedford.

This situation has me thinking.

I know coaches to some degree come to each year with a predetermined depth chart, sometimes it hurts the team. I like the fresh look that everyone is getting and I feel the kids with the best talent have a fair shake at taking the most snaps.

I am not saying its been a problem in the past, It would be nice if we could have this outlook everyseason without having to get an entirely new coaching staff.

Thats because practice was closed to the public, or did you miss everyone mentioning it already

I looked closely and thought I saw you in disguise as a tackling dummy!

Be gentle on ballcoach. Too many hits to the head can cause crazy talk!

15, have you not read the comments above from Lang and Purple?

Both are probably spot on, which is rare for Purple (but even a broken clock is right twice a day).

So I've used up my being right limit for the day. Now I can go back to sleep!
