Concessions have been bad for years. Not sure why this hasn't been addressed.

As for the game, great to get another win in front of the students. Hopefully more will show up Saturday. I plan on being there.

Would be nice to rack up a few wins during this stretch. Maybe even go 4-2.
And I posted this on 1/13. Nailed it 8)

We have 6 conference games left in the regular season. Hopefully we can go at least 3-3 to finish 7-11 in the conference. That should be good enough for at least 7th out of 11 teams. Not bad at all considering our 0-6/1-7 start.

Guys I don't think I have ever seem a player like Jesse. What he is doing right now is just unbelievable. I plan to enjoy every game of this run down the stretch. He has flirted with a triple double like 5 or 6 times. Last night was 12 pts 9 rebs and 8 assists, it's just unbelievable. He plays with such heart and passion and often out-rebounds all the trees. I love the way he plays, and will miss him next year.

By the way, I think it's amazing that he is 3rd in the big south this year in rebounds and 5th in Flames history in rebounds. He's a Point Guard!!!

I agree 100%, because Jesse isn't a pure scorer he gets overlooked by the casual fan but you can't give him enough credit for carrying this team through some tough times. He really has been something special at Liberty.

Absolutely. He is #3 in the country in assists, just behind Kendall Marshall.

By they way, check this out: He is #56 in the country in rebounds. The big deal is that most of the players ahead of him are giants. The only 2 above him that are close in height are 2 6'5" guys. You have to go to #85 to find someone shorter (5'2") http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/stats/ ... =2011-2012

I know if John Brown is here, that stat is way different, but he has stepped up where it was needed.

They seriously haven't addressed this?? All the talk about money=success and in reality THIS should be the issue. Concessions is very important for the fan experience. How are you going to get community support if the concessions are awful!!??

JB get on it!! haha

The problem was always that is was run by sodexo/liberty dining and it was almost like concessions was an after thought. If they are who are still running things then I am not surprised it hasn't improved.

I always got annoyed at the cold popcorn and nasty nachos. It never felt like I was at a real athletic event.

The big mission now is to try and get that #7 slot so we can host the first round (and hopefully actually advance to the second round for once)

Our win against GWebb puts us one game back of them, and we hold the tiebreaker against HPU. Right now, I'd rather play HPU, they seem to be falling apart right now.

(But then again, I said the same thing last year...)

As it is now, #8 Liberty would host #9 High Point, #7 Gardner Webb would host #10 Radford. If we advanced, we'd play UNCA.

That's correct. If we finish 7th or 8th we will play at home on Monday.

Big difference between 7 and 8 though. Finish #8 and play High Point at home; win and play @ UNCA. Finish #7 and play Radford at home; win and play Coastal on a neutral floor.

We need to aim for 7th.

Correct. Short of winning out, catching Winthrop is out of the question. Flames are 2 1/2 back with seven to play and lose the tiebreaker, so in reality, they're 3 1/2 back of the Eagles. The only way into the top six is to catch VMI, and beating Asheville would be a huge step in that direction because it would give LU a tiebreaker advantage. Then again, no one outside of CSU has beaten Asheville, so much easier said than done, home court advantage or no.

LU fans should be rooting for Winthrop to beat the Keydets on Saturday in Lexington. That makes a push for sixth much more realistic.

JVP had an absolutely vicious block last night. I was sitting behind the pep band and he smashed a ball almost into the second row right next to the band and the whole Vines Center went nuts

He really seems like a better Matt Hildebrand at this point. Matt was the same kind of do everything and barely get noticed guy who would occasionally pop a 25-30 point night to remind you that he was the best player on the team. The only thing Hildebrand did definitively better than Jesse is shooting free throws.

He's the guy who is showing real improvement right now. I don't know if he'll ever be a good starter, but he's been very good recently in doing things like setting picks, rebounding and altering/blocking shots. If his current 5 rebounds per 15-18 minutes holds up through the end of the year, then hopefully he could get his conditioning to the point of 25-28 minutes with 7-8 rebounds by his senior year.

This team really seems like Jesse and a bunch of really solid role players. Like it's missing 2 1st option type of guys that will put up points consistently. And I don't say that just because we lost 2 important guys that should be on the court this year that would have done just that. It's just obvious the way this team was built and that it's missing scorers. Notice the difference in the 2nd half when Minaya actually starts putting the ball in the hole.

and the fact that our offense is "pass around the perimeter then jack one up with 4 sec on the shot clock".

our big play is someone takes a step or 2, then feeds JCS who throws one up from NBA range. fortunately he makes some of them.

little to no dribble penetration unless Jesse goes off and tries to hurdle people, or feeds Burrus (seems like less then 4-5 times)

I know nothing about hoops, but its apparent we have almost no inside presence on offense. We may do ok in the BSOUTH but against top caliber teams we look like a JV squad.

that being said- glad we're winning. Good to build on.

PA judging by ur height it's not surprising about your lack of hoops knowledge. LOL

But your last point could be applies to both hoops teams and the football team

Burrus was getting doubled every time he touched the ball. I think GW planned to just take him out of the offense.

And with good reason Burrus has been balling lately. I've actually thought our post play has improved considerably since the begining of the year.

JB must have been out of town.

LOL! Actually I saw him schmoozing with the courtside fans during the latter part of the second half...I blame him for the fact that we've won 4 of our last 6
First good win...Congrats to team....never take any for granted.

However in the big picture before we big in the Macy's Day Parade to celebrate we need to look at the strength of the opponent. Radford and High Point are quickly spiraling to the cellar. Definitely wins though.

We have an inflated 1800 in attendance with students back...I am just amazed how some on this board continue to promote the quality of the JB's effort here. It is really sad to now what it should be and where it is.

But when you are on the bottom there is only one way to go...so maybe celebrating wins over bottom feeders is our new standard for success.

When will you get serious about building this program. We have over 70,000 students...millions of dollars invested and you tip toe around the fact we underachieve. JB is an underachieving AD. Give me two more years it won't change...new excuses...no championships.

If you arent upset with the fact that we are 4-20 in DI games and are on the verge of our first losing season since 2006-2007 (who was coach that year...) and lost in the first round the last three seasons then I guess that makes you a koolaid drinker who doesnt care about winning

It is true that beginning with our 5 game losing streak at the end of last season up through the loss last week at Winthrop, our record against D1 teams was indeed 4-20.

It is also true that beginning with a first round loss in the 05 BSC tourney and continuing through the 05-06 season, our record against D1 teams was 4-24. I wonder if ToC felt as strongly about how that team "underachieved".

I was very disappointed in how last years team finished. This years poor start was more understandable. I'm encouraged by recent results. We've won 4 of our last 6, with the only 2 losses nailbiters against WU. Looking forward to finishing the BSC season this year the way we began it last year!
