Taylor spent the last five years (2006-10) on the staff at Buffalo. He was the lone assistant to remain following the coaching change from Turner Gill to Jeff Quinn. Taylor coached wide receivers at Buffalo, and added the duties of passing game coordinator in 2010. Taylor has seen his wide receivers rewrite most of the UB record book during his five seasons. Naaman Roosevelt, a two-time All-MAC First Team honoree, became the Bulls' career leader in receptions (268), receiving yards (3,551), receiving touchdowns (28) and all-purpose yardage (5,341) under Taylor's tutelage after converting from quarterback as a freshman. Hamlin finished his career in the top 10 in both receptions and yards in UB's record book. Fellow receiver Brett Hamlin also earned All-MAC honors in 2009 and finished his career ranked third in school history in career receptions with 185.
Prior to Buffalo, Taylor was on staff at his alma mater, Kentucky State University, where he served as tight ends and offensive tackles coach for the 2004 season, and as the running backs coach during the 2003 season. He was the wide receivers coach at Kentucky State from 1995-99, while also serving as the school's Residence Life Director. Between his stints at Kentucky State, Taylor operated his own business for five years.
While at Kentucky State, Taylor coached four first-team all-conference selections, six second-team choices, and helped the Thorobreds win the Pioneer Bowl in 1997.
A native of Canton, Ohio, Taylor was an outstanding wide receiver at Division II Kentucky State, earning First Team Black College All-American and team MVP honors in 1992. He led his team in yards receiving, total receptions and scoring from 1990-92. He later played and served as a coach on the Milwaukee Mustangs of the Arena Football League under former Buffalo Bills coach Lou Saban.
Juan and his wife Betsie are the parents of a daughter named Kennedy.
