OK, but almost every member here has already agreed with you on the length of the suspension, including me.

Remember though, the coach learned that the felony drug charges would be dropped on September 16, 2011.

Anybody else think this has gotten a little out of hand? You all have exasperated your opinions (some much more strongly than others) and JLFJR has been more than gracious to give all of us the time of day to give his perspective and his views. I think he's said and done more than enough to help you all understand. You all have said what you wanted, so what else is there to say or add to this :dontgetit

i just want to point out how this is probably the only school in America where our chancellor would post on a message board defending his point, and role in a realativly (rightly or wrongly) controversial decision.
i love this place. (meaning this board AND LU). im really suprised the level of argument this has devolved to. not everyone is going to agree with every decision that is made. with the knowledge everyone had at the time, i agree with Jerry and jeff barber's decision not to fire rocco mid season. that would have been crazy, and probably a whole lot more controversial than the way it was handled now.

also jerry, if rocco had not left on his own, with [asa's] guilty plea coming out, would rocco have been asked to leave?

I don't know who this Jerry is you speak of, but maybe JLFJR could answer it. I personally think that's a great question.

LUnpretty11, I will take this as my cue to go to bed. Thank you! I climbed to the top of Sharp Top today (not bad for a guy who is turning 50 this year, if I must say so myself) but I admit I am a little tired!

Barber said he offered Rocco an extension in an interview. One of the videos on libertyflames.com that I don't feel like finding, lol

flamesfan30, I answered this question earlier in the thread. I stated that, while I did not agree with the length of the suspension, I was not willing to fire the coach over the decision either. Also, FYI, all the charges against Asa are being dropped. The laws of the state of Virginia allow first time offenders to make one stupid mistake. Now, I'm going to bed.

Is there any way to subscribe to threads on here? I never think to check FF any more and think this thread has to be dying but only to come back to some drama haha

GOOD GRIEF! Let it go people! This player is gone. This coach is gone. JFJR has answered all reasonable questions. Forget what is behind and press forward! Excited about the future. Now lets announce a stadium expansion or indoor facility or 4 star recruit signing so we can bury this thread!

i would really like to put all the blame on DR just for the fact of him leaving, but with the new coaching staff. the bad taste in my mouth is becoming a little easier to deal with.

i'm in no position to say whether it was the right decision or the wrong decision. just the sound of the charges put so much light on the subject as opposed to being pulled over and finding beer in your possession and you are under age. both are wrong and illegal but a felony kicks it up a few more notches on the radar.

i am very appreciative of the fact that LU is willing to give you the opportunity to help yourself if that's what you want. NICK is 19 years old and living away from direct supervision of MR & MRS drill sergeant. is he gonna do and act how he would if we were around, i would hope so but probably not. i was 19 at one time myself, and the taste of freedom is delicious. but knowing that one stupid mistake doesn't guarantee that you are thrown to the wolfs makes me feel a little better. [ LU and the police would be the least of nicks worries ]

SORRY FOR THE RAMBLING, HERE IS WHAT I STARTED TO POST BEFORE I HAD MY SENIOR MOMENT.

[ not defending DR, just my thoughts ] everybody kinda thought ASA had a shot at going pro, what if all the information that DR could gather came from ASA and maybe his lawyer. both parties tell DR it's all BS everything is going to be dismissed and cleared up. DR starts thinking, do i make this kid miss his final season and the possibility of ending his dream of the NFL on something i'm not 100% sure of other than what i have been told. he pretty much put himself out there, from the info i have if i let him play and things go south it all comes back on me and the school.from the info i have if i keep him out and everything turns out ok i screwed the kid because the NCAA doesn't give LEGAL RED SHIRTS. DR had way more to lose at LU than ASA did. of course he could have been thinking if i let ASA play and we get in the playoffs and we win a game or 2 i will get a million dollar contract offer from an FBS school. as much as it pains me i want to believe it was based on my first theory. unfortunately we will never know for sure

ASA probably had a million things running around in his head at the time he took the plea agreement. it would be a major decision to have to make even though you feel you are innocent. spending a ton of money and dragging your family and school through more publicity. pretty sure their have been quit a few innocent people put behind bars just because they drew the wrong jury.
fight it, possible jail time. take a plea and get on with your life. he will carry the plea the rest of his life. 10 years from now fans and people associated with liberty will have to be reminded of the situation, assuming somebody remembers . i only met ASA a few times but i personally wish him well.

i would wager the house that most of the people that are still ticked over the situation were cheering ASA on for every tackle he made and game he helped us win. he is still the same kid that did or didn't do something that has brought some negativity to LU. i may not be as spiritual as i should be, but they say god does everything for a reason. i feel gods big picture allowed for a few speed bumps along the way.

i'm sure i have a bunch of miss spelled words and my punctuation points are all wrong. so i will apologize in advance. there wasn't any crime drama shows on tv so i thought i would murder the english language tonight. lol. i'm sure their will be people that go completely against what i said and that is fine. everybody is entitled to say what they want. i probably won't come back on here to debate what i have said because this is how i feel. plus my two index fingers are tired from typing all this. typed more on this one post than i have all the other ones put together. GO FLAMES!!!!! RONNIE SIGMON

THE END ........ Now IM ready to start thinking about the Wake Forest game in September! :football
