For the record, lights are still on in the tower. That's about all I'm good for.

Maybe the special announcement is intention to go FBS, but it wouldn't be a time line. You can't put a time on it because there is no control of actually doing it. The if and when totally depends on an opening and invite from an FBS conference.
I'd be surprised if it's a specific conference shift. I would think word would have leaked about that. Stadium expansion? Maybe. But the wording future of football doesn't seem to directly relate to that possibility. Maybe it's something else.

Are they eligible to play right away until the official change over date or are there implications right away i.e. sit out a year?Generally speaking, whenever this gets announced it wouldnt be for the upcoming season so it would have no effect on the players
Would think it would not go into play right away but this is something where the timing could have an effect on potential players coming in over the next two years.

I'm thinking either expansion update, MAYBE FCS conference move, or VT game announcement.I doubt we'd be moving to another FCS conference without involving all sports. I'd say 75% stadium expansion and 25% FBS conference move. I don't think this has to do with next years schedule seeing as it's concerning the, "future of the football program." That seems like more a long term move than a future opponent. I could be wrong though.

Not a conference move. Not yet.
Not the announcement of a game with VT.
Think App State. Not a game with App State, but ...

LUminary wrote:Not necessarily. South Alabama announced the creation of their football program with a definite timeline for being in the Sun Belt conference. It could be a contract agreement with a conference to move up when the stadium expansion is done coupled with a timeline for the stadium expansion itself.Jkill617 wrote:I'm guessing they announce a timeline for going FBS or a stadium expansion.

The post from Lang, coupled with the comments about the planes near WKU and SoCon headquarters, almost makes me think it's an agreement with App St. to move up together in a couple of years.
