Does anybody see a return flight scheduled to Lawrence? I can't find one, which lends credibility to jcmanson's view that this is pretty much a done deal.

not sure how i feel about this with all the kansas people, who had him as a head coach saying almost nothing positive about him. i think we DO have the great assistants to make it work. bill gillespie would never allow a liberty football player to be out of shpae. the coach doesnt deal with athletics. our standards in that area are much bigger than one man. was anythign this negative said about rocco before we hired him?

oh, and if our players quit on us in the third qauter, you can expect all the student support that rocco created to dry up realitivly quickly. the stakes are high here. and as far as which VP is with them, from the picture all i can tell is that its not johnnie moore  . all the old people kind of look alike.

If this is a done deal I think FlamesFans should get the commission instead of Carr. I know Gill was the first name and #1 guy that popped in many of our heads, including myself, Sly, and others.

Gill had a 5-19 record over the last two seasons at Kansas. He went 20-30 in four seasons from 2006-09 at Buffalo. Am I missing something here? What's all the excitement about?

You have to look way beyond the numbers. He inherited a terrible situation at Kansas, and the job he did at Buffalo was phenomenal. Buffalo was basically a high school team when he took over, you could really make a movie about what he did there. And you have to remember... it's freaking Buffalo, New York... not exactly the recruiting hot bed or high profile destination to get players to win.

I just cant wait till a recruit calls Rocco at Richmond and says "Sorry coach Rocco but Im gonna go join Coach Gill and go to Liberty."

After he said basically "If Richmond would offer a kid we wouldnt get him."

Well we've already made national news. They didn't give proper credit to Lang as the mentioned reporter who confirmed he was here

http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2011/12/1 ... g-opening/

"Lynchburg, VA – Former Buffalo and Kansas former coach Turner Gill could be a candidate for the opening at Liberty University.

Gill was fired at Kansas on Nov. 27 following his second season. The Liberty job opened on Dec. 6 when head coach Danny Rocco accepted the same position at Richmond.

A News & Advance of Lynchburg reporter who wrote about Gill's possible candidacy at Liberty on Tuesday reported on Twitter that the former Nebraska quarterback was on the campus Wednesday."

HMO can't wait for the presser making this official so he can give Ty Willingham a firm handshake.

I normally don't wake up early so, I'm staying up all night, hoping to catch the press conference live in the morning.

The real question:

Gillway?
Gillville?
The Gillevard?

We need to get organized and Occupy Sweet Frog. You know there's going to be a visit to one of them in town tonight. And don't forget to bring a camera.

I hope thats true. I honest don't know a whole about him other than his days at Nebraska. Hopefully he can get Liberty over the hump and into the playoffs.

Well if he can get the U of Buffalo to a bowl game, I would think he would have a good chance of getting us to the playoffs.
