That's the first name to really catch my eye out of the one's listed here. Groh is also the recruiting coordinator for Bama and has history as a QB coach and OC. Obviously being at UVA gives him some local ties as well. That would be an excellent move if he was interested.

I don't know anything about him or whether or not this is a possibility but recruiting inroads wherever Alabama gets their guys in addition to inroads in the mid-atlantic hot beds seems pretty desirable.

The first name that came to my mind was Al Groh. Al has coached at the major college leveL with success, coached in the NFL and plans to retire in Virginia. Bring in Al has head coach and Def Coord. and have Mike as the OC with Mike possibly taking over when dad retires.

When I saw he was the WR coach and recruiting coordinator I thought of one name: Julio Jones (now with the Atlanta Falcons).

Yep you are right The man won bowl games and put players in the NFL. We do not want someone like that at LU

Yeah, I think this would be a good fit depending on his personality and of course...religious beliefs. But is he a big enough name to get a head coaching position right away at the FBS level? He has been a coordinator and Alabama pays their assistants A LOT of money. Can we afford him?

Our last coach made 400k. And didn't leave because of money. A half mill in the burg is about 650 somewhere else.

mike groh, really...or even mentioning al for that matter. If you guys researched it all neither of these should are even remotely possible. Mike was the OC at UVA and led UVA to a offense that consistenly ranked outside teh top 100 in FBS until the administration forced Al to remove him from his staff in order for Al to keep his job. As far as Al goes, that's just not even worth addressing. You guys complain about the defense being bad, where do you think Danny got his defensive concepts and use of the 3-4 from. Sometimes i just get cracked up at the stuff like this.

i actually think our personnel works better for it. We just dont have a big enough d line to make it work against physical teams.

Freeman Schuster Bah Varol

Ward Sigmon Hyland

Aiken Ayers Vinson Fogg

with jenkins, griffiths and mayo as your best backups. This would work because Vinson has played a lot of looks very similar to safety in our defense anyway, in fact didn't he play some safety in his first couple years.

I hear he's applying for the HC job given his many talents and insights into our program. :P
