I don't get this one at all. I don't see how moving to UR gets him any closer to the ACC. He could have had his pick of jobs in the lower to middle tier FBS programs and it would have increased his profile more so than making a lateral move.

I have nothing against Rocco and he's done a whale of a job making this a competitive program but I haven't hidden my wishes for us to go in a different direction. Best of wishes to Coach Rocco at Richmond except for when we're matched up on the field or for recruits.

If you are telling someone "win or else" , you are not trembleing at their feet.

Doesnt make the "win or else" any better.

He applied for it, but removed his name from the list once it became public. Barber would be stupid not to move up when the time comes.
Hope it happens. We need Liberty men in Liberty positions.

I see your point, so let me change my idea to an authority that reviews these situations that does not like sports. No more ethical blank checks for the sake of winning.

I feel like this is going to get very interesting in the next few days. Interested (as all) in what the a.d says, and what happens in court.

Thank God for Pinder.

Then, what happens with the Men's BB team tonight? Hate to see the campus in a major funk - need some positive news.

One of Barber's hires was McKay, and I'd say that he needs to do better this time, or he could justifabliably be questioned.

That should have never got by the AD, except he is most likely looking to parlay his position into a better school as well. We need somebody looking out for the school in these situations from now on. It's ridiculous how we just got used in that situation by guys who don't plan on being here for, apparently, even another year.
+1 i'm with LUconn on this one.
That is what i am talking about.....finally someone willing to call it like it is :typing Lconn for AD!

Ri wrote ; I might be with you on this. But I would like to say that the fact that Rocco is gone is a strong argument that any three of these men did not tremble at the feet of the star football coach

We got a text alert about 6 this morning on the shots fired. It was a cop that shot at a vehicle fleeing.
Perhaps the cop saw Clark and thought he might try to come with Rocco....

Sooo my head coach just gave us the duces. I'm beyond angry...
I wonder how many players feel this way? It would be interesting to see.

18-21 year old kids are at times overly emotional and I am sure a lot of these guys feel as if he is abandoning them. I wouldn't blame them. Man, tough for them

I would agree postie...thing is that there is a lot of still very raw emotion since this just came down. They certainly are gonna need time to process this...

It is really interesting to read some of their initial reactions. Nothing shocking though. Some angry, some sad and hate to see him go. Others excited for new opportunities.

May depend on the role you had. Kid are going to feel sold out....when you sell a vision, yet jump basically sideways...what does it say.

One head coach leaves to be an assistant and now one sideways.

Unfortunate I think but understandable. UR offers some things that LU does not yet. It has a pretty high academic profile and can recruit more easily in an expanded area as there are no stringent behavior/lifestyle rules. Won't go to D-1 but still a decent career move to get to that level for a coach. He might have felt he has maxxed out what he could do at LU. That said, LU has much more to offer than it did when he took over so getting a good hire should be doable. Key time in the program's growth path.

Jim Miller, Richmond AD “It’s easy to hire somebody who will stay. It’s difficult to hire someone who will win, and then find that the University of Richmond is the right place for them for the long-term.”

Too bad this wasn't the priority at LU.

I didn't know Rocco owned a suit. I thought his whole closet just had wind pants, dirty old t-shirts, and Joe Pesci skull caps.
