We are a much better program because of Danny Rocco and I can promise you that we will land a great coach. We have the resources to do it and its not like the new H.C is getting a bad team.

flamehunter wrote:Well I think obviously you want to hire a "Liberty Man" and I don't mean that in a bad way, but if there is a high level coach that is interested for whatever reason, do you think Liberty would, not necessarily bend the rules, but be more flexible to get a great coach?therealbodoyle wrote:GiveMe: I won't argue that with you, but do you/all you guys think the "religious aspect" of the University might be a turn off for some coaches? Not for the coaches that we would want to hire.

Any player/student can come here and get the "college experience" without having to deal with the rules we have set in place.

"Christianity as a hindrance" is an overrated concept.

therealbodoyle wrote:You are partially correct. I am a LU Grad living in a very liberal area in Boone, NC. When I tell people I graduated from LU I get "the look." But, for non-religious people, the rules and things that LU Grads had to go through can sometimes be a positive thing. I compare it to a military school in some cases. We had to learn, through the rules, that there are some things that are just DUMB to do. Someone applying for a HC job will be a mature person. They will understand that our Christian affiliation can only bring good to a program, if maintained correctly.Schfourteenteen wrote:Joking aside, I think there is a notion that it is a strict, religious university, atleast from outsiders.therealbodoyle wrote:GiveMe: I won't argue that with you, but do you/all you guys think the "religious aspect" of the University might be a turn off for some coaches? At the end of the day, there is no religion in Liberty football. flamesfilmguy wrote:This one hurts. Sorry I see this as a lateral move at best. down grade in facilities. he's willing to burn the bridges at LU to better position himself for the wake job. honestly I think he'll end up at wake eventually but i think he would have been there sooner had he been more successful in the post season with us and stayed the course a little longer. I respect coach rocco but this one i don't understand. I pray the new head coach brings us post season success but i'm pessimistic right now. if the asa thing is whats "lingering" then good riddance. sorry thats how i feel at this point.Yeah, but there's no such thing as a clean break here at Liberty. Asa, Clark, Jerry Jr & Barber may have all had an influence on this one.
