Not a good example. UCLA is an embarrassing 6-6, and in the championship game by default.
Agreed but I though the butchery of spelling his last name would have earned SOME ridicule!

Anytime a group of fans/alumni get together and don't give financial support to the school because they don't like the coach, then the school feels they need to find someone else. Yes coaching is a cut throat job and everyone knows that going in, but as fans they don't see the whole picture unless you are inside an organization. It is ashamed that fans make rash judgments just because of what they see on Saturdays. Nobody really knows anything about the game and with that about what has been going on with a particular team. The sport of football has gotten bigger than can be patrolled. look at all the schools with NCAA violations, not to mention what has happened at Penn State. We all need to step back and enjoy the game for what it was meant to be. Guys play their hearts out for each other and coaches coach there hearts out for the team and forget all the money involved. money is the route of all evil and that is what happened to college sports.
Ah. The old 7-4 is a good season argument. I know your kind. They told me Bill Stewart was a great coach. Well guess what? I think 7-4, or 8-3, almost every year, isn't good enough when you can't win the important game. Along with that, look at the money we are pouring into it, and still getting nowhere.

What do you think about that?

I'll be the first to say IDK. But I say we get ride of the DC. He came a year after Rocco, and many say the Defense is our biggest let down. I guess that is true when your a team score 40+ points on multiple occasions.
We give Rocco like 5-6 seasons to make the "big-time" magic happen with the Bill expansion. If he can't do it with that then we throw in the towel on him. Let's not underestimate the expansion as a recruiting tool and the necessity of recruiting at our level and position as a program.

You are about to lose your coach to 1 of 3 schools. Good luck finding a new one.

Well, I just learned that people cannot be split into multiple pieces and coach at the same time.

Unless there is cloning involved...

Unless you have some knowledge that not even our resident scribe (who I think is taking some much needed time off actually) knows, Id be careful making such pronouncements, because folks on here arent ones to overlook when people are wrong about stuff like that...

As much as you talk about Lang, I almost think you'd rather be marrying him.

lol...I got to know Chris because of my freelancing exploits for a couple years...and he's somebody Ive come to respect as a fellow writer. Add to that the fact that as the "beat writer" he sees more of the goings on with the current teams than most of us on here (you excluded of course Jon along with a few others) and I tend to defer to him on things of this nature as opposed to short sighted keyboard jockeys like wishbone.

Well actually I assumed that you knew that. Do I have to type out my extensive list of qualifications line by line as a preface to everyone of my posts?

I know at this point you're just trolling...but seriously this could be the case at any time. We are not some high level job. A school like Liberty is going to be used as a stepping stone and DR has done a good job at making himself look appealing. I don't think DR ever has said this is the place I want to be my entire career or anything even remotely close to that unlike another certain coach who has come and gone so I really have no problem with it.

Are we suppose to be scared by a comment like this?? I'm not. DR has built a solid foundation, if he leaves we'll be fine.

Yeah, I don't get the comment. I think I could coach this team to a 6-5/7-4 record every year with the resources we're dumping into it.

If Rocco leaves after this year, it tells me that he thinks he can do no better here than what he has already done. And its time for a payday before his "name" starts to drop off from having a program stall before getting over the hump.

Coach Rocco leaving for better opportunities has always been somewhat of a given. There's an extremely high profile gig open that is currently a hot potato where he has deep ties and is most certainly in the discussion. And his name has been publicly floated for a number of other positions.

Losing Coach Rocco would be a huge loss. Let's not kid ourselves. But he has also built this program up to the point where this has become a much more attractive job.

Let's just hope that time is further down the road with us firmly in an FBS league.

It wouldnt be a Judas situation.

-April Fools-

But seriously, I would become an immediate fan of whatever team Rocco goes to. As long as they are not playing LU.
