I vote for this one. But I'd throw in a picture of someone yelling angrily.

Um if you had been paying attention, you would know that CIDER takes credit for an idea from another poster who thought it would be a great tradition to have a HUGE bell that we rang. Sort of like The Biggest Bass Drum In The World at Purdue. Or the Boomer Sooner Covered Wagon at Oklahoma.

WVU plays that loud GONG sound on 3rd downs. And it is pretty sweet!

Ah, thought it was something like that. I guess ringing a bell would be cool, as long as we change our entrance song. It's terrible.

I saw on TV that Lehigh had a BELL that they would ring every so often. How loud was that, and would a "Liberty Bell" be a a good addition to our LU stadium?
Purple, did someone else have this idea BEFORE Sept. 26th???
If so, give credit where credit is due. :fineprint

Liberty needs better traditions for our football games. I think we should add a ginormous bell, like the Liberty Bell (without the crack) and ring it every time the Flames score. It's not important for me to take credit for this idea if someone else wants to run with it.

The "Liberty Bell" Idea is not a good one. I am sorry. Lets think about this.
1) The only relation is has to any aspect of the school, mascot, athletics program etc. is a clever play on words.
2) You can't manufacture tradition in college sports. We are all aware of the pathetic attempts at manufactured rivalries, i.e. Coastal. It must be organic.\
3) Someone else (likely several someones) already have this.
4)We are the flames, we have Flames shot from the end zone, I might be a bit of a kid about this but thats cool.

It's hardly a play on words...its very basis and meaning is the same as our school...hence why we have a replica on campus

And didn't some of the earliest LBC football helmets actually have a Liberty Bell image on them?
PS--and Sum, thanks for coming up with such a GREAT idea--absolutely GENIUS. :brownbag

Do I need to pull out lecture notes from 2000? :D
Yes the helmets did have a bell on them
Our nickname is The Flames. Our mascot is the Eagle. Why would a bell be such a stretch? Who cares if others do it. And yes you CAN manufacture tradition.

It's Fury (as in anger, Shakespeare's "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned"), not furry like a bear (no wonder you are laughing).

Since it will be coming up on December 21, 2012, maybe something Apocalyptic?

Win one for the Rapture. Play-offs or Rapture!
Playoffs before the Horsemen arrive. Thunder of the Horsemen

Definitely not - Ride the White Horse. or the Left Behind Series...
