Park View WR Ryan Carter signs with Liberty
By Matt Brooks

Over the last two seasons, no receiver in the AA Dulles District has more receptions, yards or touchdowns than Park View senior Ryan McCarter. And despite a rocky run for the Patriots over that period, McCarter’s playmaking ability did not go unnoticed.

Thie week the 6-2, 160-pound receiver and defensive back signed to play football at Liberty University next fall.

McCarter posted career highs in receptions (65) and receiving yards (937) this fall, establishing a rapport with senior quarterback Alec Dombkowski. He scored three touchdowns and piled up a school record 229 yards in a critical Week 9 win against Loudoun Valley that helped push the Patriots into the Region II Division 4 playoffs.

McCarter caught two more touchdown passes and had eight receptions for 154 yards in a first-round loss to defending state champions Briar Woods last Friday.

While he obviously can't sign until February, this is a tremendous news on a verbal commitment. That's two WR verbals in one week!

While he hasn't gotten as much attention from recruiting circles as Faison, this kid is an all-around athlete who is a star in hoops & track.

I had already known that February is the time to officially sign the LOI. The writer of the blog had used the wording which I posted unchanged though technically incorrect. I know what a LOI is because I signed one myself personally fifteen years ago.

I did some looking around online and Ryan also appears to play alot of basketball. Overall, he appears to be a decent verbal commit.

It's all good, libertyfan4life. I was just clarifying the article which also misspelled Ryan's name in the headline. I used to work for Post-Newsweek so I understand their lack of concern for accuracy.

these are the kind of kids you really want. They like the coaches, but love the school and what it stands for. If you have that your program remains bigger than coaches who think they are larger than life like Joe Pa and Bobby Bowden.
