Texas Hoops wrote:Wednesday, October 26, started Ryan Kemrite's journey to three schools that have shown interest in him. The Home Schooler had no intention other than getting ideas what universities had to offer in the area of academics and their basketball program.Click Here for Full Story
Kemrite committed to Liberty.
Kemrite visited Elon on Wednesday, Gardner-Webb Thursday, and ended his tour with a two day visit at Liberty on Friday and Saturday.
After returning to Houston, Kemrite sat down with his father, who accompanied his son on the trips, decided that Liberty was the place for him.
"I didn't expect to commit to any college prior to my visits," said Kemrite. "All I was doing was taking visits to schools that had interest in me. I wanted to get a feel for the campuses, and what they each had to offer. I had no idea that I would feel the way I did about Liberty. But since I did, I decided that committing was the right thing to do."
Kemrite says that there were four basic needs in a school that he would look for, and Liberty happened to meet his criteria.
"In the end, Liberty was a perfect fit for me," said Kemrite. "It met my top four criteria for a school. I was looking for a D-1 program, a good opportunity to win it's conference and play in the tournament, strong academics, and a stable coaching staff and Athletic Director. I really connected with the coaching staff, and he type of basketball they play really fits my game and the new practice gym is awesome."
On the Flames roster there are three former Texas players, and two are from Houston. Jesse and John Caleb Sanders, and San Antonio native,Stephen Baird.
"Having other home school players on Liberty's roster didn't have any impact on my decision to commit to Liberty," said Kemrite. "However, it was very helpful knowing two guys on their roster (the Sanders) who could give me their uncensored opinions, both the positives and negatives on their Liberty experience."
During the summer, Kemrite did take an unofficial visit to Dallas Baptist.
Kermite also has an older brother, Cody who is currently playing for UT-Tyler.
Texas Hoops Analysis:RYAN is a very good shooter from the perimeter and behind the three point line. Plays physical and is an emotional leader. Has a soft touch to his mid-range jumper, can handle the ball and understands the game.

You haven't found a lot about him online due to the fact that he is homeschooled and in the class of 2013. No one is saying he is the best player in the world but the kid can play. He is ranked in the top 30 by RCs sports a Houston based site. You can rip him all you want but liberty coaches saw him play over 10 times this summer so they saw the diamond in him.I admit I was a little critical at first of the kid. I am relatively new to the board so just to warn you there are a lot of self proclaimed sports genious' on this board who also tend to be pretty harsh at times. It is easy to be critical when you have not played college sports (with the exception of SCAR and a couple posters who professionally follow sports) and the biggest accomplishment in your sport history is going undefeated in NBA live or being a manager. Welcome to the board though..hope we do not scare you away. My advice just bite back. I am sure Ryan is a good player. I know Eaker personally and he would not recruit a kid who has potential.

Most obviously have never even suited up in competition. The program was beseiged by a poor AD decision and we hope to be back to solid ground. Good luck to you and Ryan. We will welcome him to Lynchburg.
