We can't play like we did in the second half against CSU.
I realize those were the reserves, but I am getting a little worried about the team chilling out too much while we beat the crap out of cupcakes leading up to the SB game.

Yeah- I fear a replay of the last time we were up at SB.

Presby hasn't beaten a solid team yet but they haven't lost to a bad team either. If we have a choke game this year, it'll be right here. I know it's in Lynchburg but this is not as much of a cupcake as CSU.

CCU is no cupcake but I get your point. We are at home which should help things going into these next couple games, but we do need to make sure we play well...I dont think we have played a "complete game" as of yet and we are going to need one the next couple weeks to go into the bye week on a high note.

At this point SB is the only team that can hang with us scoringwise so we have to play like we did when we went down to Boiling Springs.

They're Calvinists
They're Calvinists
They're Predestined To Lose

(a nice in game chant if you can get anyone on board with it, and/or anyone to theologically understand it)

If there is one school of significant size in America that gets Arminian-Calvinism smack it would be LU.

Just a slight reminder that Calvin himself had nothing to do with the TULIP acrostic. :D

Well not all of Calvin's works are bad. The problem is people link Calvin with Calvinism. They're not necessary the same. Yes, Calvin believed in predestination but it wasn't the main focus of his Institutes books. Many of the adjectives that we get for describing God come from Calvin's works. Although I know by saying this I have committed heresy against my SBC brethren. :D

Anyways, sorry for straying off topic yet again. I think this game may be a little closer than some of us think. Having said that, there's really no excuse to lose this one, and with home field advantage, we should do so by 2-3 touchdowns.

It's really hard to call this one. I have no idea what to think. I bet no one gave GW a snowball's chance in hell last week, but they sure girded their loins and upset CCU in Conway. This will be a hard-fought game in a hostile environment. We're better than we were last year but still have a long way to go. To be completely honest, I'm more concerned with winning our last three games. Not trying to sandbag or kiss butt, but the last three games on our schedule (CCU, VMI, and CSU) are what matter to me the most. At the beginning of the season I posted on our board that a 4-win season would be realistic and achievable. With two wins under our belt and 2 of the conference's bottom-feeders on the schedule at home to finish out the season, I'd consider beating y'all to just be icing on the cake. I speak only for myself.

Not to sound like a smart you know what but we handled Coastal very well. I see an even worse fate for Presby.

like the Jim Bakker and Tammy Faye cracks that made no sense considering SLY was trying to start a legitimate discussion on your board KILTS?

or the comments @ Asa when he made a second attempt? 8)

oh well. He tried.

I love PC game week. Their fans think they're so much better than they really are. I fully expect our team to put them back in their place and shut them up yet again.

For the record, Black Watch's Tammy Faye joke didn't make sense to me either. Someone doesn't know his televangelists. Second, I completely disagree that "[our] fans" think we're better than we are. If you read our board at the start of the season, most of us were hoping for a 4-win season. That's hardly indicative of a conflated ego. One or two people doesn't represent all of us. I love Black Watch. He's super-invested in our program because his son is on the team, and a promising young player to boot. Forgive my dryness. It comes with a Calvinist upbringing.

very similar to VMI fans in that regard. The next 2 weeks oughta be interesting.

both fan bases use the time-honored "transitive property" argument ("we gave up less yardage to team x than did team y") or the "forget about the fact that the game was over by halftime argument and the opponent was playing their 3rd string" ("if only we had played the whole game like we did in the 4th quarter")

oh- and both live in the past ("back in the 60's we beat VPI and Navy") or ("back in the 80's when we won the SAC vs NW Georgia Central Deaf & Blind)

I will now be banned from both boards.

I will readily admit the whole Presby thing has been a lot less fun since Bobby Bentley and his automatic gatorade dispensers were run outta town.
