Where is your confidence in our Chancellor and Administration? Sorry ladies, when it comes to believing the Chancellor or a group of no-name internet posters who readily admit they do not have all of the facts, I will go with the Chancellor, AD ,Head Coach, 100% of the time.

Agreed flameshaw...Id find them more credible than people on here claiming unnamed "sources" (frankly Id but our scribe in that first group as well...if he wasnt credible he'd lose his job)

They know he wont be convicted, he'll just plead to the lesser charges and they'll drop the big ones.

No one's going to go Mayor Bloomberg on him.

Which is one of these
1) He had cocaine, and it was his.
2) He did not have cocaine, and this was a mistake in police work.
3) He had cocaine that wasn't his.
4) A dirty cop planted cocaine in Asa's car or on his person.

Are there any other possibilities?
Number 4 would be a nice twist in the story and another chapter in the story that is LU vs Lynchburg

For the sake of discussion.....if the charges are dropped will Liberty be justified in reinstating Asa? Waiting to see the outcome but it's hard to ignore.......he was arrested for cocaine. On a side note… not allowing Asa to play does not mean the school is not extending grace. Asa is still on campus going to class and by coach Rocco's statement receiving support.....this is grace. Not being able to play football is not a lack of grace but a demonstration of consequence. I hope that Asa will turn to the Lord and realize drugs, football, etc....are all distractions to what really matters. Hopefully one day will we read of Asa's conversion (or if he is a believer) repentance and subsequent faithfulness to the Lord.

Why? so that you can stroke your ego due to your hatred of a particular member of the LU administration?

This is exactly what I'm saying. This is what we should be arguing about. Maybe he could even play next year depending on what happens. Maybe not. Instead maybe he'll get drafted and make millions of dollars but still be the same guy who "does what he wants". But at least we'll get to add him to the intro video.

Re: Option #4, oy vey... No comment. I have good friends in LPD. I'd hate to see them drug (no pun intended) into this by association.

I think perhaps I'll just go get some :popcorn ... and perhaps a bottle of vodka.

Bury, see my previous post. It is entirely possible that there was contraband in his car without his knowledge. Do a quick scan of Virginia Court of Appeals opinions and you will find a variety of factual scenarios in which defendants were convicted by the trial court, but overturned under one of the basis I previously posted. All you gotta do...is believe! Now, I am not nearly as confident about the 2nd DOS charge and what may happen there, or the impending 90 days suspended jail time hanging over his head from the first DOS...this by the way is why he received a FTA...it was not for a failure to appear, but for violation of terms and conditions placed on him from the first DOS...usually to include good behavior for 12 months. That went out the window with the 2nd DOS, thus a Rule to Show Cause, or non-compliance was issued against him. Also gotta love what was probably the reasonable suspicion for pulling him over...excessive noise from car, either he was booming the speakers...classic, or he is another Flowmaster victim!!

Fact? That sounds convincing.

I have another theory outlandish theory that will be null and void once Lang tells us what's going on. The legal system will drop the two serious charges in return for guilty pleads to the other 6(ish) minor charges he faces. LU staff knows it and doesnt want to kill the man's football career.
Did he not hear about Jenny Craig - last I heard it was still legal :)

JFLJR sticking his neck out gives me some reason to believe that the charges will at least be dropped.

I am still under the belief that if this was a player that has not played a snap, Or a less talented individual, he would not see the field until the matter is resovled.

This is what doesn't make a ton of sense to me either (again, as an outsider looking in). He still has a redshirt year left...let him go to school, mentor him, provide all the assistance he needs, put him on super double secret probation, and once everything checks out, let him play next year.

I tend to think you're going to have a plea to some lesser charges, all of them misdemeanors. While his initial charges are more serious, it reminds me of the situation with Kevin Grayson of Richmond a few years ago, although it didn't happen close to the season so there was time for it to play out.

I'll add that to me it looks like: "Go ahead and get him in, we've got Brown and Summers, this is our year to make it matter. Once he pleads down to misdemeanors, it'll be okay."

Having said that, we've dealt with our own legal issues at JMU that I've jumped the gun on, so I'm staying open minded on this, just giving current perception. Everything could get dropped tomorrow and to me, there's not a problem.

Asa is a good football player. However, I don't believe for a second that has anything to do with JFJR's decision. In reality, we should make the playoffs with or without Asa. We are not going to win the NC with Asa, Brian Urlacher and Kurt Warner, we just aren't there yet. I have confidence that the Chancellor is doing the best thing for all involved and the current circumstances not a football, how many games we can win decision. IMVVVVVHO.

Sorry to disappoint BYD (and this may seem to you like Im punting) but I dont speculate...flameshaw may want to take a stab at it but Im gonna wait and see...nothing more. The chancellor gave his statement and Im not gonna speculate and dissect like you and a few others feel you need to.
