They unfortunately are not...its too bad too...the problem with last time was that it was raining cats and dogs and that isnt good for some instruments or parts of instruments).

I hope not.

No offense to him, but the man has much bigger issues in his life to straighten out

Plus, it's a radically different situation. Their charges were dropped. My understanding is that Chapman's court date got moved back but charges are still pending.

But, I will say that this should be a lesson in not jumping to conclusions over stuff like this - like fanbases are want to do. I had written the Rose's off after this incident, and maybe I still should, but there obviously wasn't enough evidence to convict them. It doesn't look like they'll be back on the football field for awhile, but they're at least back.

We have followed the Rose chronicles for years so we understand the tendency to assume the worst. Those kids have been given 3rd, 4th & 5th chances and continue to find themselves in messes. As for Asa, I agree that he needs to be focused on other matters besides football right now.

It’s put up or shut up time. No more moral victories. No more shoulda/woulda/coulda. It’s time to do it. Win. Now or never. No more excuses. I don’t care if it’s 50-0 or 7-6. Just win. That’s all that matters. I don’t care if our attendance is 30,000 or 5,000. I just want that W. If we want to be taken serious on a national FCS level, you have to win these type games.

QB Justin Thorpe missed the second half of last season with an injury and is off to an uneven start this year. In two games, he's thrown for a combined 199 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He's an athletic player who can be a factor in the run game.

OL Roane Babington is someone Liberty recruited out of high school. He's athletic and smart and is the heart and soul of the JMU front five.

LB Stephon Robertson is off to another fast start for the Dukes. He leads the team with 22 tackles including 2 1/2 tackles for loss.

This is our year to show JMU that we're sick and tired of getting pushed around by one of the most classless schools in the country. Rocco will not let what happened last year happen again in our house!

Ok sweet,
I would not start jumping around and start calling JMU,
"One of the most classless schools in the country". Trust me, my dislike for JMU as rival runs deep but let's admit it, I think many of us on this board also have a deep respect for Mick and what he has done with program, including their top class stadium expansion and national championship. I know they are a program that us far removed from their NC glory days and they actually beat Tech last year, which is quite an accomplishment. Let's not start calling JMU one of the most classless programs in the nation because they disagree with our ideology or our practices. Trust me I am also frustrated with losing the close games against JMU, I hope we win this Saturday and keep winning towards frisco this year. I also hope our schedulers can find anway extend the scheduling of this great rivalry between two great VA football programs. :blahblah

*edited

ps. I hate using my Iphone for posting. The auto-correct could be your best friend or worst nightmare with texting or writing on boards.

I think you've got some AutoCorrect issues there, but I appreciate the sentiment.

I also wouldn't just assume that JMU disagrees with your ideology or practices - not that you did, but to the extent sweetd did. The fact is, they can't explicitly AGREE with them, they're a public school. The student/faculty body is probably no more split on the "Liberty Way" than the rest of the general population. I went to JMU undergrad and Regent for law school, so I understand it. There are things about it, and the Regent Code as well I might add, that make me shake my head, but I don't ever begrudge a school (or a person for that matter) for sticking by their principles.

Man, I am pumped for this match. Unfortunately I am not able to make this match in person. I am in southern california and work is keeping me here on the weekend. I will be watching from ESPN3 on connected to the big scree or I will order via the gameplan. :D

I believe Sweet D was referring to the students and not the organization itself.

When we went to the game last year our band had vodka bottles thrown at them and the students had comments like "I used to believe in god...till i grew a brain" spat at them.

I can understand making fun of of code of ethics and such (as i do) but many of the JMU fans I came into contact with were just flat out rude.

I went to the State game and sure there was the "where's chapman?", "were going to win" but there was also "hey you guys have a respectable quarterback" "we hope you guys enjoy yourself and have a good time." Not to mention at JMU we saw countless drunk students.

BTW we tailgated in the heart of both teams.

Nice, we have 10s of 1,000s of alums and staff, including around 15-20,000 enrolled, but we get labeled based on this small of a sample size. Good thing people don't do that with stuff like religion...oh wait.

BTW, I KNOW I talked to numerous Liberty people and we had great conversations about the two teams. If you get stuck in a bad area, and most schools have them, it's still not reflective of the organization or even the student body.

When we went to NC State game two weeks ago I wasn't sure what to expect .... The NC State fans were great though! They were friendly and actually made us feel welcome. Had something funny happen as we came through the gate, a girl was handing out NC State fan towels. I turn mine down and she looked at her helper like what's up with him. I point to the LU on my polo and she laughed and said, oh okay, I understand, I'm really a UNC fan myself!!!

Dawg, I can understand that maybe it was just one bad experience I'll be back up there next year to see the game.

I wish the best to the teams this weekend and hope the better team wins.

Just for reference we were in the lot up by your basketball facility.

I agree with drumcolby. I walked from where the LU caravan parked and was insulted the entire way to the stadium. I have been a sports fan all my life and completely understand being taunted for the team I cheer for (grew up a duke fan living near chapel hill for example) but the amount of hate that was yelled at me from almost everyone I passed was out of line.

I agree the way that the school is run is great. They have a great vision for football just like LU. I will be up there next year for the game and hope to have a better experience.

I would like to clarify my last post. When I said JMU was classless I was referring to how the Liberty fans are treated when we come to JMU for a game. Having beer bottles thrown at the visiting fans and being mocked for our faith is unfair to Liberty fans who are trying to enjoy the game. In no way did I mean to call the whole university classless. JMU is a well-run university and their athletics program has had success in past years. I am looking forward to the game on Saturday and i'm hoping it is an enjoyable game. May the best team win.

I'd never say that JMU was classless- some fans, maybe, but for the most part, a great opponent. I had a friend who worked for InterVarsity and JMU had the largest chapter in the state; there are many like-minded students in JMU's student population (many from NOVA), but they still will be rabid JMU fans. I'd bet that for JMU fans there is a lot more animosity for UR than there is for Liberty.
BuryYourDuke wrote:I love Williams, but at the moment JMU's stadium looks the best in FCS. Maybe once we finish phase 3. But first we need fans haha.
In regards to their stadium, it is a good looking facility, but I'd prefer our concrete stands and tower over their aluminum structure. The parking deck is sweet! I would not be surprised if we add a second level to the student side of the field before there are any more additions to Bridgeforth and at that point, we will have a similar sized facility. I bet the interior amenities don't touch those of Williams either; the renderings of their club level were pretty ho-hum. In an all-out facilities race, LU will win, simply because we can do more with less interference (i.e. the new baseball stadium), but maybe JMU is poising themselves to be the next VT and student population will require ever growing accommodations for athletic events. ODU is another FCS program that has a really nice looking facility.

There will be one Duke I'll silently be pulling for on Saturday and that's TE Brian Barlow who I watched play hs football here in Stephens City for Sherando all four years. Kid was a stud in hs and is now a captain as a Jr. for JMU. Anyways... #BeatJMU!!!
