Best case 2-3 more weeks, worst case 5 more weeks. According to the report I heard.

That sucks for Jason. Considering taht we only have 5 games remaining its going to be tough for him to get back this season.

Too bad he can't get a medical redshirt. Too late in the season for that.

Rashad is questionable for Saturday, not probable. He was in an air cast today. We'll know more after Wednesday's practice. He didn't practice Monday or Tuesday.

Jason is indeed 3-5 weeks. Best case scenario has him back for the Chuck South game. No chance of a medical redshirt. He's played in too many games this season.

Did he get hurt in an attempt to stretch his arms out and catch a ball? Oh wait...

I talked to Wynton today, and he appeared to be not hurt, so I don't know what you're talking about.

FWIW, SJ, I asked Wynton about the perception that he wasn't trying hard enough to get to those balls, and he wholeheartedly refuted it, instead saying that he had some misreads on some of the passes. You can take whatever you want to take from those comments, but that's what he said.

Of course he's going to refute it. The only thing that people are questioning is why he didn't even put out his arms in an attempt to catch the ball. We'll let the fact that he dropped two touchdowns at Towson go but last week he let one, maybe two touchdowns possibly go without even throwing his arms out.

Putting his arms out might have made you guys feel better, but it wasn't going to get him any closer to a touchdown. Those passes weren't close.

I'd say blame should go both to the QB and WR for that one. Wynton recognizes that he needs to run better routes. Brock recognizes that he needs to make some changes in his delivery. Once the two click, everything will be fine.

From what I was told, Jennings is probably not going to play this weekend.

I'm in a class with Wynton and actually, I was teaching a loesson and he didn't participate. I don't know if it was due to an injury or just because he didn't feel like it. He's probably been faced with "why didn't you put more effort into the plays" all week. From what I've gathered from the guy, he puts his guts into everything on the field.

Do you guys not remember some of the crazy punt returns from Wynton this season???? He obviously puts in the effort...The blame should not be dispursed upon Wynton; however, I would place the blame on Wynton if he dropped a wide open pass, fumbled or missed an easy field goal.....

I am going to speak for the one play that happened directly in front of me...the ball was right there for him to catch, all he had to do was reach out his arms..this play happend right in front of me around the 30 yard line...the other one in the end zone that other people keep talking about may have been a tough catch to make, but he showed no effort....the one on the 30 yard line was right there for the taking, and if he would have made that catch it was all green in front of him...I may not be a reporter, but I know what I saw...and that one play has replayed in my head over and over again.....no effort on Wynton's part whatsoever....I am almost more angry with him then our kicker, at least he tried.....

Fair enough, postman. You were closer to the play than I was, since I was still in the press box at the time.

wynton is my favorite, but that play on the 30 could have been caught for a big one if he would have simply put his arms out. i was really surprised with that one. he's still my man though. and i know he's gonna bounce back next week. we look really good agaisnt OOC teams so i think the rest of the conference besides coastal should be a breeze,if rashad is back. if not then we are in for some trouble because that passing game is horrible(seriously). look at if from a opponents point of view. if your looking at tape or stats, then you want us to pass. IT IS NOT GOOD, and we are afraid to put the ball in the air.

yeah those two touchdown passes at Wake Forest were a fluke.....Brock can throw the football, but I would just flat out like to see Jennings score 3 touchdowns a game.

As promised by Chris, here is his update in the fishwrap:
LU Notebook: Rocco says Jennings questionable for Saturday

By Chris Lang
Lynchburg News & Advance
October 18, 2006

Liberty running back Rashad Jennings' status for Saturday's Big South opener against Gardner-Webb is still undetermined.

Jennings walked around Tuesday with an air cast protecting his injured right ankle, and LU coach Danny Rocco ruled Jennings "questionable" for Saturday.

Jennings, who leads the conference with 763 rushing yards, sustained the injury on his first carry of the second half last Saturday against William & Mary when he was dragged out of bounds from behind after blasting down the left sideline for a 62-yard gain. Jennings left with a high ankle sprain and didn't return.

Jennings didn't practice Monday or Tuesday and Rocco said his status would be evaluated after this afternoon's practice.

"Hopefully, we'll get him back soon," Rocco said. "At this stage, he's questionable for this game. I don't want to say he's doubtful, because I'm hopeful he'll be ready to play. But he's no better than questionable."

Liberty defensive end Jason Horn is out at least 3-5 weeks after sustaining a fractured fibula in practice last week. The team explored asking the NCAA for a medical redshirt for Horn, but he had already played in five games, so there's little chance the redshirt would be granted. A best-case scenario, Rocco said, has Horn returning for Liberty's final two games - Nov. 11 against Charleston Southern and Nov. 18 at VMI.

Kicking change

Rocco shifted around his team's kicking duties after Ben Beasley missed three field goals and Zac Kolegue had an extra point blocked against William & Mary.

Kolegue will now handle all extra-point and field-goal duties, with Beasley concentrating on punts and kickoffs.

Also, Rocco said he planned on making some personnel changes along the offensive line for the kicking units. William & Mary's Cortenous Herbert blew through the center of Liberty's line nearly untouched to block Kolegue's PAT in the second quarter, a point that was crucial in the Tribe's 14-13 victory.

"We'll continue to evaluate personnel," Rocco said. "I'd rather not say who or where, because that's just going to draw attention to some things. But we definitely have rotated some different bodies, bigger body types, in there to help solidify that."

Common foe

Gardner-Webb led Glenville State 21-10 last Saturday and was driving to get into field-goal range at the end of the first half when something odd happened.

Glenville State's Lawrence Bethea intercepted a Devin Campbell pass, and the entire GWU defense thought Bethea was down.

Instead, Bethea squirted out of a pile and ran 78 yards for a touchdown, and instead of GWU heading to halftime firmly in control, the Bulldogs had a fight on their hands from the Division II Pioneers.

Gardner-Webb eventually won 31-23, but not before allowing another long touchdown via turnover (Jacob Lilly's 68-yard fumble return with less than five minutes to play).

"They earned 10 points," GWU coach Steve Patton said. "We gave them the other 13."

Liberty beat Glenville State 31-7 in Week 2, so there is a common opponent to judge the teams heading into Saturday's Big South opener at Williams Stadium.

Glenville State appears to be a completely changed team, though.

Gone is the spread offense Liberty faced. Instead, GSC installed wide receiver Tavon McGee at quarterback and is running the option. McGee threw for 118 yards and ran for 91 against GWU.

If Kolegue boots a game winner, I think the fans should shower him with Frosted Flakes or Rice Krispies.

If we win a game on a field goal we're freaking rushing the field and carrying that guy off on our shoulders.
