The chances of SMU replacing A&M in Big XII are similar to LU replacing Clemson in ACC.

The Big XII will not add anyone in short term unless some friars in South Bend suddenly decide November trips to Texas sound attractive. And word out of Austin is that UT intends to fill Thanksgiving vacancy in their schedule with Irish after Aggies become SEC fodder.

hey flamefans, I just wanted to bring up Stony Brook as another possible move up to FBS. We arguably have the best market potential of any FCS state school. We are upgrading facilities at a pretty remarkable pace (something like 50 million dollars in new projects started this past year alone including our new strength and conditioning center) and they are currently planning a stadium expansion to 24k. We might be playing catch up but I think we are a school to pay attention to.

Not only is SBU a large school, it also has an academic reputation that surpasses probably all of the FCS schools that are in the move-up discussion.

That is correct. Stony Brook has all of the essentials to make the move up with the exception of support from the state legislature. As a result, there chances of moving up soon are not as strong as they should be.

seawolf - Welcome to the board! I actually had to create a new designation for "Stony Brook Fan" with your membership. Hopefully some of your Seawold brethren join us here with you as the season progresses.
