I think we should play a 4 man front anyways, but yes, without Asa, we should definitely play a 4 man front.

Hi all,
Sorry about the lack of position previews the last couple of days. I got bogged down trying to knock out all of my high school previews. Now that those are off my plate, I'll post two today (WRs and FBs/TEs) and get going with some general FCS conference previews as well.

At this level, FCS, you’ll be hard pressed to find four better receivers,“ Skalaski said. “What’s nice is that they’re all talented and they’re all experienced. They’re all battle tested.

the new guy from uva going to d line could be a sign that the coaches feel more unsettled on the d line than the o line. Just from what i've heard it seems like the o line is coming together nicely and could actually be a strength.

I'm pleasantly surprised hearing that about Hyland. At the same time I'm disappointed in Jenkins.

15 guys

1 sr
4 jrs

the rest are young. Silver lining: thats good for the next couple years

Didnt know Griffith (the USF tx) was sick/hurt.

so it sounds like its Vinson, Connolly and Hyland and we hope Sigmon picks it up.

hoping Ake and DR have this covered. MrsPA says I need to quit worrying about it so I guess that's it.

agreed...thats why they are the coaches and we arent...and as for Jenkins manson, Im sure he is still a solid player, he just got beat out and that is bound to happen sometimes. Doesnt mean he's a bust (as you seem to be implying by your thoughts), just means that Hyland showed better between spring and fall.

Who has been to camp on a consistant basis and i have paid attention to the corners. WALT is one heck of a corner but Kevin Fogg is more consistant and more physical through my eyes . He plays on the same level and is definitely prove to be a shutdown corner also. Im definitely not down playing Walt's position, I just dont think you guys give that Fogg kid enough credit. I've heard from numerous players that the kid should actually be the starter but Walt just has a more promising frame. He runs a consistant 4.3 40, cleans 360 (new cornerback record), super physical and is just a ball hawk. 2010 season states - 33 stops 26 which were solo, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 2 INT'S, 4 Break ups, 6 pass deflections and 1 FR. Hands down the best stats of any corner last year. Don't get me wrong, I love all 4 of our corners and the rotation is gonna be awsome. I just think this kid is slept on and some of you guys are caught up in the hipe. I think he has alot to prove come time to play NC State. Its his hometown and was heavily recurit by them also. Please don't be offended by this post, just being a realist. Chris, I'm sure you could share some insight, thats if you dont mind.

Avg. Joe ... my insight is this. Walt Aikens to me looks like a high-level corner, just in the way he defends and the way he pursues and tackles in the run game. He made a couple of impressive tackles from behind in yesterday's scrimmage. And he has some swagger, which you need at corner. I really think he's going to be special at this level. I really don't think anyone is overselling him. He's 100 percent legit.

Now on Kevin Fogg, to me, he seems like a more skilled version of Tim Torrence, a small guy who can knock the tick out of people and do so with no remorse. But he's technically a much better corner than Torrence ever was, and he's much more physical. People will definitely sleep on him because he's not an FBS transfer (Aikens) and he hasn't put up gaudy stats (Lee's 5 INTs as a soph). I can totally see why the coaching staff wanted to move Ayers to safety. There was a need there, and the four-man corner rotation of Lee, Aikens, Fogg and Hobby is just rock solid. And Kenny Scott is going to make some noise this season, at least on special teams.

It's definitely nice to have a secondary which could likely be our strength of the defense.

The most exciting thing I have seen all offseason..

RB preview on libertyflames.com. It had a clip of A.A. carrying 2 coastal defenders to the endzone. Power Running Game is back.

I just want to give kudos to the SID staff on the great work they've done this training camp. The position breakdowns, big south team breakdowns, post practice reports, etc. With them and what Lang gives us, we have great coverage!

Couldn't agree more. Major Kudos. Love the daily audio practice recaps & interviews..

Anyone know if we've looked at creating our own high-def internet stream for Football games? I suspect we have a minor hurdle since the big south attempts this .. however, with the quality we produce - I suspect we could do this well and begin to really engage fans and online alumni across the country. It's hard to imagine a better way to build and demonstrate a national audience to a future FBS Conference.
