NCAA probe leavs mark on Chants

MYRTLE BEACH — A pending NCAA investigation has already damaged the Coastal Carolina men’s basketball program.

It cost the Chanticleers their leading scorer for the final seven games last season along with a potential trip to the NCAA tournament. Whether it will cost the university and its basketball program anything further remains unclear.

Questions were first raised in August 2010 and have prompted a minimum of two campus visits for interviews by an NCAA assistant director of enforcement in November and February. The interviews in November included players, coaches and other athletic personnel; CCU counsel Tim Meacham said this month that NCAA officials had not returned since February.
