This whole dog park thing sums up the mentality of our city quite well. We will spend the time and resources to promote this contest city wide, and make a video about the contest for only a CHANCE to win. Meanwhile if you spent the same amount of effort and resources and simply do it yourself we'd already have one by now....seriously. Unreal...let's just throw another couple of million to a traffic circle in a bad part of town. I give up on them.
While we're on parks in the city, peaks view park needs to be demolished and completely redesigned. Such an ignorant layout. Its also pathetic that the Little League kids are playing on the same two fields they had back in 40's (maybe 50's). Our Lynchburg City Parks and Rec is a joke though. Just ask yourself what exactly the city is doing in regards to parks and outdoor activities. We do have Blackwater Creek trail but they have to do a better job doing things for the kids around here. Our city lacks so much vision its sad.
EDIT: This appears to not even be headed up by the city but a local group, even though there were city rep's in the videos and other events. I would be to embarrassed if I was a rep of the city to show up at this knowing I've done nothing productive to do this ourselves but rather rely on a local group and a contest. On the website it says they hope to open in the Fall of '11 depending on the fundraising efforts. REALLY? Fundraising efforts for a dog park???? Its time to step up for once in your lives Lynchburg City Rep's
