Only a couple more units to go on the defensive side of the ball so lets move to the Linebackers:

Players Returning:
Brian Arelt (R-Sophomore) (No 2010 Statistics)
Mike Connolly (R-Senior) 19 Tackles (8 Solo) 2.0 TFL
Scott Hyland (Sophomore) 17 Tackles (10 Solo) 1.0 TFL 1.0 Sacks
Marques Jenkins (R-Junior) 7 Tackles (3 Solo) 0.5 TFL
Nick Martin (R-Sophomore) 6 Tackles (3 Solo)
Nick Sigmon (R-Freshman) (2010 Redshirt)
Demetrius Ward (Junior) 17 Tackles (9 Solo) 1.5 TFL 1.0 Sacks 1 FR
Bobby Partilla (sat out 2010)
Players Lost:

Kyle O'Donnell (graduation) Big South All Conference First Team
Doncel Bolt (graduation) 2010 Big South All Conference Second Team
Chad Brown (graduation)
Matt Baptiste (moved to FB)
Eric Fath (moved to TE)

Players Incoming:
Dylan Lewellyn 6-1 210 Lbs (North Stokes HS)
Andrell Morrison 5-9 225 Lbs (Hartford Public High School/Dean Colege)
Jimmy O'Grady 6-0 235 Lbs (Chopticon HS/Hargrave Military Academy)
Zach Erickson 6-1 235 Lbs (Memphis University High School)
Chase Griffiths 6-3 235 Lbs (North Florida Christian School/South Florida)

This will probably be another wide open battle. Connolly returns after missing the second half of last year with a knee injury, but LCA Product Scott Hyland and Demetrius Ward stepped up more than admirably in his absence. It will be interesting to see who steps up to fill the void left by Doncel Bolt as the "enforcer" in the linebacking corps. Fath returns after missing most of the year with a knee injury of his own. Dont be surprised to see Nick Sigmon (shout outs to sigmo7) stake a spot in the starting lineup come the opener against NC State. Chase Griffiths transfers in from South Florida and certainly could get himself one of the inside spots as well.

Nick was I think the highlight signing of our 2010 class and he did show very well in spring ball so like I said, I wouldnt be surprised to see him stake a position in training camp

The positions are Drop, Mike, Jack and adjuster?
I haven't seen an official one listed, but:

Drop
Mike Connolly
Demetrius Ward

Mike
Nick Sigmon/Eric Fath
Jimmy O'grady

Jack
Marques Jenkins
Scott Hyland

Adj
Brent Vinson
DJ Edmond

I know you're curious to Nick Martin, but I'm not exactly sure where he'll fall.

Chris probably could better answer it than I could but my speculation is that itll be Connolly, Ward, Fath, Sigmon, Jenkins, Hyland and probably Griffiths primarily battling for three of the four spots. I didnt see a ton of DJ Edmond but he may be in the mix as well. I think jc may be right on Vinson being the guy at "adjuster"

Eric Fath's status fell during spring ball. He may be #3 now at Mike.
As for Nick Martin, he was moved from Mike to Drop during the spring. He was Number 2 behind Ward while Mike C was recovering. He had 6 tackles in the spring game while learning a new position. Scott and Marques will be a battle for who starts.

Basically youll have 6 guys (Fath, Sigmon, Jenkins, Griffiths, Hyland, and Baptiste...doesnt that sound like the name of a law firm to anybody?) battling for two starting spots once practice convenes in about 3 weeks or so

Im thinking that the incoming guys will all redshirt...O'Grady since he is coming in from prep school could work his way onto the field since he got a chance to work with the team during spring ball and Morrison could coming in from juco ball, but most everybody else probably wont see game action in 2011

first and foremost i want us to win, if nick gets to play thats just iceing on the cake. atleast this year i know i have something to do every weekend, we will be at all the road games. last year we only went to the home games. my youngest son was in rec ball last year and played every saturday. middle school plays during the week, so we are wide open for a deep run in the playoffs.

therte appeared to be some moving around at the LB positon after the NCSU game. Nick Martin was moved back out to Drop as #3. Does any one have the latest depth chart? Heard there were some other moves inside with #2 & 3's.
