Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The race for the 2011 Walter Payton Award, sponsored by Fathead.com, kicked off Monday with The Sports Network's announcement that six returning finalists from last season headline a stellar 20-player Watch List for the Football Championship Subdivision's top individual honor.

The Watch List also includes two wide receivers, Liberty senior Chris Summers and Eastern Washington junior Brandon Kaufman.

When Mike Brown throws a touchdown pass to wide receiver Chris Summers this season, the Liberty quarterback will be helping one of his main competitors in the race for the Walter Payton Award.

Earlier today, the Sports Network released the preseason watch list for the 2011 Walter Payton Award, the annual award handed out to the top FCS football player in the country. The award is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2011.
