passed up D3 scholarships

Forwards Luke Baumgarten and Andrew Ciampichini of the Vaughan Vipers have both confirmed their 2011-12 collegiate commitments this past week.

Baumgarten, a native of Chicago, Illinois, passed over numerous NCAA Division III offers and has decided to play in the top division of the ACHA for the Liberty University Flames. This season, the diminutive forward recorded 31 points in 43 games for the Vipers.Ciampichini (photo credit - Izak Westgate/HHOF), who was picked up mid-season from the Collingwood Blackhawks, has confirmed his commitment to play for the Elmira College Soaring Eagles beginning with the 2011-12 ECAC West season. The native of Innisfil, Ontario would record 30 points in 28 games played following the trade to finish seventh on the club in scoring to help capture the South Division title.
