Asaad Woods Transfers From Liberty University
If you read Eaker tweets, he was giving updates of spring work outs, etc...there was no mention of JA, Carter, and Asaad (which is now officially gone). Now you/I could be reading into it too much and could mean nothing.

Found this on a Google search (caution--it's painful to read):
[from 2007] Grace Academy's Carter McMasters has signed a basketball scholarship with Liberty University.

In his first recruiting class at Liberty, head men’s basketball coach Ritchie McKay and staff also signed Seth Curry, Brolin Floyd, Sammy Jackson, Mike Lewis, and Austin Smith to national letters of intent for the 2008-09 academic year.

McMasters picked Liberty over Auburn, Chattanooga, Clemson, Kentucky, Michigan, Purdue, Virginia and Virginia Tech, among other programs.

Wow what a list of schools to beat out. That was before my time here. The Flames must have been fired up to have Carter choose Liberty over the "Big Boys"
He should join McKay in Charlottesville

Yeah it was pretty awesome. Now that we can look back, he should have gone to Michigan. Beilein is probably the only guy that would let him play to his strengths, which is not anywhere close to inside.

We were crowning that class the best ever at Liberty. Funny to look back now.

Yep. Other than Sly raving about him since he was from Texas.

and to think that he could go down as one of if not the greatest point guards in school history four years later...

Yea, I think Jesse originally signed with Rice but left there after a coaching change.

This has to be nominated for the most honest thing ever said here... Funny thing is every single prospect since has pretty much been expected to do the same- except Jesse, ironically, who fell through the cracks as some have put it- perhaps that is the lesson here.. I dunno..

Honestly, I don't mind a message board contingent crowning a class as being the best ever...that's part of the fun of these things. What I thought was odd (and now looking back, it looks just silly) was how much 'official' hype was given to the class by the LU athletic department. It's one thing to announce a recruiting class, or to have coaches give a few quotes saying that they are a great group. But naming them the 'Magnificent Seven' and hyping them up big on the LU official website was what was really funny now in retrospect.

It wasn't just on here though. It was in the mainstream media, came out of RM's mouth, etc.

Carter was the top-ranked recruit and Jesse was just behind him from a slew of services. Jesse committed early to play for Rice because he wanted to play for a Christian coach he respected in Willis Wilson. When Willis was let go, he called Ritchie on Jesse's behalf. Jesse was far from a throw-in from the outset.

I'm disappointed things didn't work out for Carter here at LU. Hopefully he picks up a post-grad degree and finds a place where they will let him play thew wing like he apparently has wanted all along.
