If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

I never followed baseball or watched it, boring game. So whether it stays in the US or goes outside our borders, it will still be boring to watch.

In Parkersburg it's a big deal. Along with football. But yeah I don't know about everywhere else anymore.
I haven't really sensed that baseball is popular hardly anywhere in WV. People mostly just care about basketball and football, which I really have no problem with. Lacrosse is really getting popular in the northern part of the state which is nice to see.

i think another big thing is the money... i mean Bryce Harper may be the best non-pitcher drafted since guys like A-Rod and Griffey got drafted... and yet he only gets just under 10 mil for 4 years? Whereas Sam Bradford gets something like 50 mil guaranteed and John Wall inks a deal with Reebok for 25 mil....

like HMO stated, the baseball marketers are so horrendous it is a wonder they have kept their jobs... but I don't think they deserve all the blame. I believe its time to get a new commissioner. I have been under this impression since he didn't overturn the blown call in Armando Galarraga's near perfect game... I think if they get rid of Selig that it can still bounce back and be just as relevant as any other sport

100% agree. Although I disagree about that Galaraga's almost perfect game should have been changed. It is what it is, and honestly more people may remember that than they do other perfect games.

It's random, but I remember I said to my dad in the 3rd inning last year when the Rays played against Dallas Braden, "They keep playing like this, there may be a perfect game!!!"

Little did I know... I'd be right. :D

I just think that was my catalyst.. the straw that finally broke the camel's back... I mean Jim Joyce admitted he made the wrong call. the next guy got out. so it would be incredibly easy to expunge the hit and no major stats are changed.. and when Selig decided "I'm not changing anything because the moment was special"... it just made absolutely no sense...

though there are plenty of other times that he has screwed up (not letting Rose in the Hall is a big one for me as well)

Just think that he is really hindering the sport... I mean even "spicing" up the All-Star game and making it a home team advantage thing while good at first seems stupid now... I mean say overall the AL is down that year, but their is one team that is on fire and way out in front of everyone with wins. Now because the League in general is down they don't get home field advantage and basically all those wins mean nothing....

I guess the big thing is everything starts from the top... which is really what is hurting baseball at this point

Don't get me wrong, I hate Bud Selig. And don't even get me started about the All-Star game... I forgot to mention that earlier. Its just stupid how many things he's ruined.

I saw Bryce harper play a few times here in Rome. Not as good as advertised. he's hitting .231 right now. and yes I heckled him asking him who his prom date was...

As for the baseball decline ALOT of it has to do with the kids parents. Watching Highschool baseball today you would not believe the things some parents say. you want to find a parent living vicariously through their kid? Show up at any little league or even high school baseball game. Its horrendous.
