Having gone to Liberty back in the dark ages, I can say that students have always complained. The complaints sound pretty similar to what they sounded like 30+ years ago. As whmatthews said, suck it up and enjoy Liberty. Soon enough you'll be out in the real world making a living, paying your mortgage and thinking about the great days you had at Liberty. College years go by fast - enjoy it while its happening.

Listen to JeanW, young grasshoppas.

To be honest, most of the complains we all had back in the '80s were petty and have long been resolved over the years (you recent students have no idea what life was like back under the old Liberty Way). But JeanW's point is right on the mark. If you focus on the negative aspect of your Liberty experience then you are setting your self up for a life of disappointment, frustration and abdominal issues. If you focus on what is right then your life will have much less stress and you will be a much more contented person moving forward.

For the record, SAGA was that bad.

Yes, it was ATROCIOUS!!!
I never thought it was that bad when I was there. Of course no one has ever accused me of having a discriminating palate. Being away from home for the first time, I was loving the quantity more than the quality. I never left SAGA hungry (PBJ's were definitely fillers).

I practically lived off rootbeer floats that I made every Sat AM sitting in the deli watching cartoons on that big corner tv. That and those cold, flat hamburgers that tasted like absolute crap.

just my opinion.... I know they are never going to do it because they want to accept everyone but they really need to put a standard on admissions. It would get rid of all the complainers.

People who don't wanna be here, won't be here.

"Behind the curtain" would imply that you have some sort of inside information that others are not privy to BYD, and I'm not hearing that; just the stuff that is public knowledge and has been for a long time and all but a few recognize it for what it is.

What you are essentially saying is that our chanceller (and his father before him) are/were either a) unprincipled pragmitists who don't care what the man did before he came here as long as he is getting the job done now, or b) complete idiots who have been totally duped. I'm not buying either of those, so.................. maybe someone else is buying a load of crap?

Amen. But usually these complainers are freshmen... they last here one year and leave (like the facebook group I linked 2 days ago).

Please I don't want to hearing about anyone whining about LU today. Students today think they have it hard at LU would never have made it during the early years of LBC.

Same...and I know that you have your feelings about Dr Godwin BYD, but really, you sound like you either are talking out of both sides of your mouth, or youre turning into an outright grump (those of you who were at the VCS this year might get that reference). Im not saying you need to just accept everything good about the school and not consider some of the bad, but if all youre going to do is keep bringing up stuff and sounding all cloak and dagger and smoke and mirrors about it, dont be saying in your very next breath that you love the school...that would be like saying you love a girl to her face and then talk about all the problems she has behind her back to your friends and family.

Ok now youre throwing fellow boardmates under the bus...I think that the reason some people arent posting here is because they dont want to get into another muck slinging discussion, which you seem to always find yourself in the middle of...

BYD, you've really taken this too far. If you have an issue with the man go to him, if that fails, take a brother and go to him. If that fails bring in the Church. There is a Biblical way to do this.

BYDuke, Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. I think if you followed the Biblical mandate and confronted your nemisis personally, you would find a different man than the one from the past who was maybe callous to the feelings of others. I don't know him personally but I have heard from many close to him that he has repented for his past sins and is trying hard to do the right thing. If God can forgive, then why can't you?

Quick question for you Alum. If half the things are true about Godwin, would you allow someone like that to run a ministry or church? I just want to know how everything BYD says can be dismissed so immediately. I have known him to be a pretty even keeled poster so I don't think it's anything to jump down his throat about.

Well it looks like BYD decided to punt...Im sure there are some issues within the school (as with anything run by human beings in this lifetime) but airing dirty laundry and hiding behind smoke and mirrors and anonymous sources isnt the best way to carry oneself, especially on a public message board

The only real rule I get mad about is how girls can wear T-shirts and AE jeans and I have to wear a colored shirt (because it's 90 degrees out and I'm burning up).

Yep. That collar sure heats up quick!

The only thing I've ever really complained about in a serious manner is the incompetence of Academic Advisors. After going through 4 and talking with kids from other schools, it's obvious that this happens everywhere.
