Liberty rises to No. 8 in nation
March 25, 2011
Liberty University is now the nation’s eighth-largest, four-year university, according to recently released data from the U.S. Department of Education....Liberty, with 64,610 students, is the largest four-year college in Virginia, surpassing George Mason University (39,977 students), Virginia Commonwealth University (36,553 students), Virginia Tech (33,080 students) and University of Virginia (31,157 students).

Any guesses on the top 7 schools ahead of us? HMO may have the list memorized.

I'm assuming University of Phoenix is No. 1, with its huge online number. I would like to see the updated top 10 list.

I guess it would help if we actually won the Big South in a sport that mattered, when it mattered.

JR stated in the article he plans on 20k in the next decade.

This has been on our quickfacts page for a while now. I cant name all 7 but I would think about half of that 7 would be online only and the other's are the large residential campuses with a mix of online for grad programs. My guess.

I do not believe this list separates the for profit and non profits. If that's the case we are the largest non-profit school in the country.

according to this one, http://www.american-school-search.com/c ... 5QoduB9mbA

our campus is "presumably unsafe"
Liberty University
Lynchburg, VA

Associate's degrees, bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and doctoral degrees are offered. Above average tuition. On-campus housing. More than 45,100 students attend this school. Presumably unsafe campus. Strong emphasis on theology and religion, business, and general studies degree programs. ROTC programs are offered.

That study about "safety" is a joke. Not because being safe within itself is a joke, but this comes down to reporting...and the better you are at reporting, the worse your stats will show. Medic please correct me if I'm wrong, I just remember when some of this was being discussed around campus and I'm pretty sure that was one of the main concerns with it.

It doesnt take a genius to simply take a look at some of the numbers being reported by other schools and simply think...there's no way that's all they have.

Re: safety

I have absolutely no knowledge of the situation down there, but most agencies report using "UCR" codes (Uniform Crime Reporting)

statistics are normally pulled from IR's using those codes.

how-evuh...

it depends how the officer codes it. I have the option to write up an incident using several codes, which in turn affects how the stats look in the end. It's a bit subjective, which really defeats the whole purpose, but that's how it goes.

Also, grading of charges also affects the report. You can be charged with crimes, but after pre-lim, charges are ammended, deals are cut, etc.

this week one of my defendants had several felony charges ammended to M1 and supervised probation after the DA and his counsel worked out a deal.

now that Burg/RSP is down to a theft w/ D/C or trespassing and the stats are changed. capiche?
