I think prospective athletes care more about a shiny new scoreboard than concessions.

no doubt the scoreboard with HD pictures and stats are much more important than concessions. Seating and the locker room area are the two things needed for the most improvement. I dont know that they need a brand new stadium. From personal experience the playing surface is one of the best fields I ever played on. With this video board, improved locker rooms, and better more up to date seating the stadium wouldn't be so bad.

Go in the baseball clubhouse during the day and they sell the hats in there for 20 or 25 bucks. At least they did last year when i bought the two i have.

Obviously the next step would be to update the seating. Again, I'm not talking about the SEC style ballparks that hold 10,000 people, just maybe a bit more than that teeny-tiny Hillcats Ballpark! :D

Also another thing... there probably should be a much longer net along the right side of the field. I was there for the games against Coastal and I felt as though any moment someone could just smack a liner straight into the stands. Not saying it wouldn't happen anyway, just lessens the chance it will, and it will also be good for liability if it ever were to happen.

I think that if Liberty had something similar to the Hillcats it would be perfect. We could actually host the conference tourny instead of playing it in Danville. Even though Danville is a really good place for a tourny.

The new stadium for baseball has been designed. It's just a matter of raising the money for it. People want to give to football more than they want to give to baseball so football can expand quicker.

Is there anyway to see pictures of the design?

No. They're nowhere near public and most people haven't seen them. They're not "official" plans but rather an idea of what we'd like to do. I worked for the athletic department and the only time I got to see them was when someone left them out in an office or I was in Toman's office.

The best place to hold the tournament would be at Lewis-Gale field in salem. Not only do I live near there, but its also one of the nicest ballparks in the minors (I would know I'm a huge baseball fan). I'm not a fan of any team hosting a tournament, a tournament should make you beat a team at a neutral site.

I went by there the other day and saw some work equipment and the ground around the scoreboard all scuffed up. don't know if the are working on it yet or not but that looked promising.

When is the new scoreboard going to be put up? Great move taking down the old one before the new one is ready....stupid; and now the season is almost half over. Just not a very bright decision. If this is any indication of how the new stadium is going to go; we are in big trouble. Yea I'm sure the football team would play a game without their scoreboard. NOT!

it is ridiculous, i mean that tiny little scoreboard is shown up by intramural basketball. It's still patethic how dumpy the buildings behind the plate and everythign are as well. My buddy played ball in college and was just amazed at how nice the playing surface was and raved about the potential but then theres just so much work to be done to make it viable.

Clearly they have to get the money but until then there is no question we will lose a certain percentage of recruits and potentially fans who allow the facility to drive them to believe the program is second rate.

as far as minor league stadiums go Harbor Park in Norfolk isnt too bad! On another note, skywalker and I had a conversation with Jeff Barber before the second game of the Winthrop double header and he said that before we graduate (we being sophomores), we should see a new stadium. He said to send emails to Jerry asking about it!

My question is, where is there the space to put a new stadium? The hillside where the current stadium is ideal, it just needs remodeling. Big time remodeling.

"New" stadium means taking where we have the field now and building a stadium.
