HMO, Curry is a very small fish in a very big pond now. Will he have a few good games? Sure. But, will he be a star? No. Same for RM. Both of them would have stayed at LU except for the fact that they didn't even have the talents and abilities to be big fish in LU's pond. I'm glad they're gone!

I've hardly been on the pro-Curry side of things, but come on. The kid is 15 games into his Sophomore season. Plenty of stars have been made in their Senior year alone. I think you might be jumping the gun just a tad.

I'm just saying that he's stepping up far sooner then I ever thought he would have. I didnt expect him to be on the court until Jr year and actually have his name called until Sr year.

I dont mind that he's gone now...I do think we're a better team without him, but the PR side of me wishes we still had him :)

PR? If Curry still played here - we wouldn't get any mentions but once a year during tournament time - Now Liberty gets mentioned every Duke game on National TV. I was mad that he left, but if we were looking at 3 more years of "Me" ball, I'm glad that he is at Duke now. It will be better for his growth and who wouldn't want to play for Duke and Coach K? He had to sit one year and still will play 3 years at Duke. The kid can play - IMO he makes a NBA roster in 2013.

Come on, we got more love in one year on ESPN then we ever have with our 2 BSC titles. He was a featured story on Cold Pizza his Freshman year and they interviewed him live from the Vines! Let's not act like that's a common occurrence. Not to mention if we would ever be lucky enough to win the BSC and make it to the tourny, all the talk would be "Can this Curry lead Liberty like his older brother."

I'm glad he's gone...seriously, I'm over it but let's not act like we didnt get a lot of national attention in just a years time.

Yeah - but I think that would have faded. I'm not sure if McKay would have put enough talent around him to win either. Or if he did - he wouldn't know how to coach him to be successful. I don't disagree with you - his first year was great and I'm glad he came to LU, I just don't think the stories would have kept coming...

If it could've worked out to keep Curry but bring in Layer I wish he was still here. Add Curry (who turns out can play defense) as a scoring option to pair with Gordan

But being that wouldn't have been the case I'm happy we are were we are today. We suffered the last two years but IMO are better for it today.

As a Terps fan, it made me pretty mad how well he played. As a Liberty fan, it made me sick. I'm really surprised how well Maryland kept up with Duke. They are by far heads and shoulders above everyone else in the ACC. Is it bad I hope someone "Hansbrough's" Singler in the face....Can't stand that guy!

As long as Jordan Williams is around, Maryland will be a tough out. He abused the Plumlee's (Mason has actually got WORSE this season). Gary Williams always has a tough game plan in Cameron.

This Curry stuff is laughable. He will probably be one of the highest profile guys we've had at LU, ever. He was everywhere for awhile. Hate that he's gone from Liberty but I won't pretend not to be a fan of Duke, either.

One of the Greatest games I have ever been to.

It hurt my soul to see Curry do what he did, but it also made me smile.

FTFY

To answer, perhaps, but know that the "Purple Nurple" has been renamed "The Singler"...just ask Darris Nichols.

All he did last night was make shots -- clap clap -- that's what he does obviously, he is good at that and he will make shots again, but he still doesn't play a ton of minutes and won't because he has high major flaws! #lackofdefense

If his name was Seth Scarboro or Seth Manson or Seth Dunton or Seth Meyer he would be playing D-2 or D-3 ball.

This may be one of the dumbest things I've read on here in a long time.

The kid is a scorer. That's what he does. When motivated, he plays very good defense and has very quick hands to grab a steal. To say that if his last name was different he'd be playing D-2 is absolutely stupid.

The guy is leading duke in steals with limited minutes.

I will say that if he had a different last name, he may have stayed at Liberty. I doubt he gets the connections to Duke like that without some help from Dell (and Steph to a degree).

But he's a talented player. The crossover stepback three he hit (against Mason I think?) is something that no one else at LU over the past 4 years could do. He's a special type of player that could have dominated the Big South for 4 years, and I think he'll wind up being a solid player for Duke in a season or so.

But. But. But Bigsouthking says he can't play D.

Obviously you lose. He's the Big South King!

I completely agree with that statement....without D shopping him around there's no way he's leaving. IMO Jay Bilias and Dell made this happen.

Leading a team in steals doesn't mean you can play good defense, a perfect example is VMI, they always have someone in the top for steals..... and SJ last name means alot, Dean Smith son is a high level ref and is awful...RMK would have never recruited him if he wasn't a Curry, ask any honest college coach in the southeast and they will tell you samething.

AND like I said he is a solid role player, spot shooter.

anyone know how many points Curry had in his last Big South game in tournament??

I'm not going to look but I know it was less then we needed from him! What was it though like 10? Something like that I think.

HMO - It is actually real simple. He works harder at Duke b/c he HAS to work harder at Duke. At LU he didn't have to work hard, he was still going to get his minutes. If he doesn't work hard at Duke, he doesn't get on the floor.
BurgerKing is a bit off of his rocker. You don't step onto the floor for significant minutes (which Seth gets) at Duke without being able to play defense. Both individual and team. Is he going to be a Stacey Augmon (old UNLV reference) type stopper on D? No, but who is? I am sure that there are WORSE things to be labeled with then "he can only hit shots". Sort of like "He only scores Touchdowns"

That is as asinine statement. The best D3 player right now wouldn't be getting playing time for Duke. Might make the team as the last player, but no way he would be getting PT. Past few years the D3 player of the year could have an important role on some good D1 teams, but not national championship contender good. I would think that a guy like Devean George probably could have played on most D1 teams considering he has been in the NBA for 11 years (and getting major minutes nearly every year, including averaging 21.5 minutes a game for the 02 lakers title squad) and was the #23 pick, but that guy is the exception.
