Bad game obviously, but the fact that it's his first ACC game is really irrelevant. It's not like Duke has been playing the little sisters of the poor in pre-conference, and he has had some productive outings.

I would suggest that there is a substantial amount of middle ground between "big things" and "utter failure". I agree that it is becoming clear that Seth is not the player his brother was/is, and if that is what they were expecting, I'm sure they are disappointed.

Well he did average over 20 points a game against UVA and Clemson his freshman year. He doesnt have to score much for Duke.

He avgeraged that many against Clemson and UVA because he had free reign to shoot whenever he wanted and RMK wasn't going to pull him. ALOT of Big South kids could average that many points with the peace of mind that I am not coming out of the game.
And yes Duke has played a few cupcakes.

He's the 5th leading scorer playing the 5th most minutes on the #1 team in the country. I wouldn't call him a bust quite yet.

I think his reasoning behind going to Duke were incredibly dumb and short sited, but at least he didn't try to hid behind God...and I know the last time I said that people jumped all over me in regards to RM...but I am going to say it anyways....

Yeah but wasn't this all about making the NBA? Do you get drafted being the 5th leading scorer on any team in the NCAA and not knowing how to play defense?

There were 5 Kentucky players taken in the first round last year... Curry is just a Sophomore in two years it wouldn't surprise me if he was drafted in top 10.

Let's just be honest here. Seth Curry's dream is playing in the NBA. Which provides him a better chance of that? Liberty? or Duke?

I don't like him leaving us, but I understand it. I didn't see us keeping a full 4 years anyway.

All guys who made NBA from Lower Level schools averaged a ton of points in college... Seth best chance to make pro ball was staying at LU -- He left because his ego and his dad's ego. And Duke has Austin Rivers coming in next year = less playing time for Curry.

No offense, but that's kinda the exception to the rule. Let's look in the NFL. Sure, there's guys that came out of D2 and D3 schools. Some didn't even go to college. But I was watching the Redskins v. Giants game, and there were certainly more guys from the (Auburn, Miami, Pitt)'s of the world than Northern Michigan Panhandle State.

No. The NFL is not the NBA. Also, I don't think there has every been anybody in the NFL who didn't play in college except during a work stoppage. But that's beside the point since college to pro basketball is completely different than football and they're bascially incomparable.

I agree with Bigsouthking (dont forget Liberty's own Anthony Smith got a look from the NBA last Summer) at Liberty he would had all the freedom in the world to put up shots and any kind of shots he wanted, NBA three, post up moves, etc w/o getting benched. Don't forget Ritchie coached/Developed some NBA players himself, Danny Granger, etc... so it's not like he's not getting coached. plus im sure his dad is getting him all the help in the world.

Now at Duke he's limited to just the shooter, with elite talent like Smith, Dawkins, Rivers, etc.

while players from lesser programs certainly make it in the nba, its very rare. probably what? 1 at the most a draft? sometimes 2. kids a sophmore getting 7 pts a game in the acc on a team with tremendous talent. now duke isn't known for churning out nba studs but i don't think he regrets his decision.

I was referencing LUconn's query about going to NFL without playing college ball. I was giving an example who happened to be a 1st Round Draft Pick & Pro Bowler. But I do remember covering Conley when he was at Mizzou.

I knew somebody was gonna say that. Not to bore anyone here, but there are 7 guys (7 draft picks) fighting for 53 spots. That's 7.57142 guys per draft pick. NBA, 2 guys (2 draft picks) fighting for 15 roster spots. Once again, that's 7.5. While it's a different way of looking at it, that proves the same rules apply for the NBA and the BFL.

And the Redskins have about 3 or 4 guys who didn't even go to college.

I agree with the Sour Grapes comments. HAD he stayed at LU he probably would have gotten a good look by NBA scouts and would have put up a ton of numbers. HOWEVER, there would always be the "..yes.. but..." associated with his name, just like his brother. "Yes he averaged a ton of points BUT it wasn't against big time competition". "Yes he played alot of minutes BUT could he have handled the rigors of big time competition." "Yeah, he is a great shooter but could he get those shots of against big time competition". Heck even throw in a few "big time" games and the doubts still remain.
Now that he is at DUKE, the "yes...but.." tag is not as big. "Yes he is only averaging 12 pts a game but he put up huge numbers at LU and doesn't need to here." "Yes he in not averaging as many points at DUKE as LU but he is adjusting to a new role and different level of competition." And if you ask ANY pro scout, if there is a tie between two players on their state sheet, 99 times out of 100 they are going with the player with "pedigree". So if SC is "on the bubble" in his draft status, playing at an ACC school with be more helpful then playing at a BSC school.
I'm not saying he WOULDN'T have made the NBA had he stayed at LU, I am just looking at it from an objective stand point. And to be honest, it is a nice delima for a kid to have!!
