I really just wish WU could play a game at full strength. We'll get Corbin back next game but I have a feeling Reggie will be sitting out for a few games now to rest that ankle. Think our club is pretty darn good but until we see a complete picture it's hard to tell.

I think LU will be upper middle and with luck/progression maybe upper at the end of the season.
Thanks for checking in. There is no doubt you weren't at full strength, so our young guys need to keep improving if we hope to repeat the win at Rock Hill.

I do think it is an indication of renewed respect in our program when you suggest that Middleton played hurt against us and now may sit out to heal.

Peele said last night Middleton is almost certain not to play against Charlotte Tuesday. Valentine getting into foul trouble was an absolute killer for Winthrop. Joab Jerome played admirably during that stretch, but as a freshman, he's just not the defensive player Valentine is.

Andre Jones looked really good last night. I've been waiting to see a game like that out of him.

I am really happy for the team and Coach. That was a good win for us and Evan breaking through offensively is a good sign of things to come imo... Also happy to see JVP get some extended minutes and play well. His continued development the rest of the way will be a key to whether we can make a run at the end of the year. I am VERY excited to see this team's work ethic and no quit attitude on the court. The future looks bright. My expectations the rest of the way are to improve each game and for the young talent to continue to mature. I would like to see JVP get some extended minutes the next few games and for guys like Sommy and Chene to get more minutes as well. These OOC games are important in terms of PR and respect but not more important than developing our bench for the stretch run in conference. Next year my expectations will be different and I will want us to win every one of our games but this year conference wins and continued development of our talent is all I care about.

OCC wins are gravy.

I think it's more because they have some OOC games coming up.

Looking through some pictures from the game last night, it's cool to see Coach Layer come over and acknowledge the students. He came over to them clapping to them last night. I had the game on mute so I couldn't hear them but from just appearance there was a much better turnout last night than Thursday night. Hopefully it keeps growing because it's still not great, but I'll definitely take growing.

Super, I don't know how much they showed on TV after the game, but several of the players walked over to the students' side and gave them high fives, just like the football team does in Williams Stadium, but that was the first time I had ever seen that done after a basketball game--very classy.

We think the attendance at football games is bad. There was @ 1200 students (1750 total game attendance) at this great game. JMU girls had 2000+ to watch them today. I thought we had 12,000 students on campus!?

They've been doing that since the Big South Tournament win in Ritchie's first year.

I couldn't. I don't have internet in my house and was in the church office last night watching the game and there were some people around so I had to have it muted.

My observation was that students continued to come in even after halftime, and there were more there at the end than the 1700 + announced, and they were pretty loud. I am really hoping that after these 2 wins the word will get around both on campus and in town as to how much fun this team is to watch.

I had downplayed the importance of the next 2 games against CAA opponents, but I have to admit that doing well in those games might help to continue building a positive attitude toward the team and boost attendance and enthusiasm, especially in the town crowd.

Wow! Starting off 2-0 in the BS is just fantastic. Congrats to Coach & the team on a great start to the season. All of a sudden, & perhaps for the first time in a few years, things are looking very positive. I'm extremely impressed. Congrats again.

I was wrapping up at TRBC on Saturday and I mentioned how I missed this game for the performance and a friend of mine from the band who was also in the cast said something to the effect of "but the basketball team here sucks (sic)..." There are going to be students here who have a less than stellar view of the basketball team...as we go forward hopefully the number of students in support will vastly outweigh the number of students who share the sentiment of this person...

Seriously, basketball fans & those who appreciate the college experience ought to be at the games & support their team. I'm not speaking from an "obligation" standpoint, but from the standpoint
of just enjoying the athletic/social/college scene.

Now, when you start off at 2-0, & defeat WU, no matter how good or bad WU might be this year,
you have no excuse for not being excited, and justifiable reason to be excited. I don't expect everybody to enjoy athletics, but those who do, ought to appreciate what they have, & get their attitudes properly adjusted. "Our team sucks" is not an acceptable position for a Liberty Flame to
entertain.

Seriously, you should tell him that he sucks. Because that is the word to describe his fandom.

Sadly, most of our freshmen and transfers don't even know what Winthrop is and have never even heard of Greg Marshall.

What's the matter with these punks? Don't they have any sense of history? Hasn't anybody taught them the importance of living in the past?
