LU wins 70-61. Nice turnaround after PC was up by 9 and we just took over the game at that point. PC did have some good shooters but I like the way we were scrapping for loose balls, especially Sanders and Brown. Brown was the man today on both ends of the floor. I think that he had something like 23 points.

Really good effort tonight. This was the first time since LU joined the BSC in 1991 that we have won our opener 2 consecutive years. If we can win Saturday it will be the first time we have ever won our first 2 conference games. Winthrop had to go to overtime tonight to beat VMI 88-82. High Point Beat G-W 66-64 and UNCA beat Radford by 20.

Coleman is going to have to play smarter for Presby. He can't stop being physical; that's his game, but he needs to be under better control. He has averaged well over 4 fouls a game this year, and only played 20 minutes before fouling out tonight.

John Brown is making an early run to join Gabe and Ace in the LU JUCO transfer HOF.

Did anyone else to the the Presby player projectile vomit behind his own bench? He spewed it like 10 feet out onto our floor. NASTY!

Anyone hear why Carter was wearing street clothes (and a necktie)?

I got to the game last in the first half (performance at TRBC along with Flame Convert as we're both in the choir) and whe I walked in I saw one of my buddies in the pep band getting into it a bit with PC's coach. the band was riding him the whole game...I wondered if he was gonna sic the officials after them as some point.

I had to catch this one on TV. The crowd size seemed decent enough on the student side when they showed it. Not huge, but a few thousand maybe. If we could have bought a layup in the first half we probably would have lead the whole game. We just kept placing the ball on the back of the rim it seemed like. You know the sound that the Vines makes when the Flames are shooting a free throw? That's what it sounded like for 95% of the game. I could hear Nyberg talking to his team. I could see the entire front row of the student section just standing there not cheering. I thought you'd have trouble coordinating that kind of silence on a regular basis. Do the LUnatics still exist?

A big, heavy-set guy in the pep band had a few white poster board signs like the LUantics used to do. One said "Predestined to Lose" but my favorite was "STOP Infant Baptism." And the guy had a lot of volume, so he was easy to hear from my corner of the Vines.

The students were there (a thousand or so of them), but most were sitting and doing every little cheering. When we took the lead for the first time in the second half, no one even stood up and cheered then. But they finally got up and into it a little after Jesse's two handed dunk (we now have a camera posted behind the glass backboard for some really good footage of instant replays).

Count me as a skeptic, but I'm really getting tired of the Dale Layer (pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, rush an off-balance shot). If Coleman had not fouled out for Prebyterian this might have gone the other way. He was outhandling Burrus down in the paint completely.

I'm not calling for his head, I just feel like we need something else on offense because honestly I don't see us bring home a Big South Championship with this kind of offense.

I didn't get to see this game but i understand your point. I think we are hampered by our lack of height and lack of a true slasher on offense. Coach Layer has a strong background in developing post players so I feel confident in saying that the "pass it around the perimeter endlessly" offense is not his first choice.
