I have some observations coming back from Conway that are a little off from the direction of the thread, but I think totally consistant with the Post Mortum concept.

We totally blew CCU away everywhere but the most important place..........................on the field

I would estimate we had at least 6-700 in the stands (counting our band). Before the game they did a CCU cheer, led by the PA announcer. We started doing the LU cheer, and you couldn't even hear the coastal fans. Then the PA guys says "And the winner is......................... (clearly disappointed) those guys in red over there". It was priceless. Unfortunately that and SirChauncy scoring the first TD was as good as it got.

A lot was made of the matchup between Chris and Josh Norman. Norman is a really good CB, but he can't cover Chris one on one in space. Besides the late TD when Chris got hurt, he beat Norman like a drum deep early on, and an obvious interference wasn't called. On the TD catch, Norman was called for a personal foul (not sure if it was a face mask or a horse coller) The ball came loose well after Chris crossed the goal line and Norman was prancing around holding the ball up in the end zone celebrating while Chris was laying on the ground hurt. It's an ankle. He left on crutches, and Danny didn't sound optomistic about him playing against SB. Norman may be a good kid, I don't know, but he definately didn't show class on that play.

Our defense was helpless in the first half. Rushing 3 and dropping 8, the QB had all day, but despite the 8 guys dropping in "coverage" receivers were running free 20 yards downfield on almost every play. Adjustments were apparently made at halftime, but it was too late.

We still had a chance though. 4th and inches from the goal line, down 14 with over 5 minutes left, we have an illegal procedure on a called QB sneak. There is just no excuse for that.

We had 44 on the bus, a lot of them who are ff posters or lurkers. Had a great time and would do it again in a heartbeat.

CCU stopped their own offense in the 2nd half. The last couple drives to put us away proved they could still move the ball.

I agree that Bennet got pretty conservative in the second half, but IMHO we also did a better job on D.

The bus trip was GREAT and I would do it again ! Our team was doing their very best and I am proud of them, they did not give up and fought back and could have tied or won if things had gone better but the lead for Coastal was too great to overcome. This was a very bad loss but we need to move on from here and beat Stony Brook, we probably will not make the playoff but we still need to beat Stony Brook. I for one will be there to support our team to BEAT STONY BROOK !

All I know is you guys are killing me with the whole "Fire Rocco!!" to "We have a chance to make the playoff" threads. I have to admit I was pretty ticked yesterday but I do know that Rocco is the best person for the job right now. What would make next week hilarious is if the committee puts us through with an at large bid. I do think the Flames still have a decent chance for the playoffs.....On a side note, I want to say I don't know if the coaching staff did a very good job getting the players ready. It was either Asa or Gabe Henderson that said something on twitter Friday to the effect of " this coach don't know what he sayin. This meeting is worthless". For the most part, the players I follow have other things on their mind than beating coastal.

"Right man for the job" is fluff. It's not addressing the issues, it doesn't defend what's actually going on.

And our chances to make the playoffs have nothing to do with whether or not Rocco did a good job with the team this season, since he's had two games where the team was out coached and lost a game we should have won. Due to the same old defensive errors and predictable offense. The issue is, and was before, that changes aren't being made. If changes are made and we smash Stony Brook, then that's what those who think Rocco's time is up are looking for, CHANGE. Clearly something is wrong, and we want it made right. And there's been no proof that things have been made right over time.

You really shouldn't worry too much, after all according to you, it is only a 50% he will be our coach next year. You remember, if we lose to SB, you guarantee that he will be asked to take an assistant position. That is the dumbest thing I have ever read here, but it seems like you are convinced you know what you are talking about.

I said I wouldn't be surprised. Thanks for twisting my words. You can make me sound like I say the dumbest things when you twist them.

Get off my back, present something to the contrary or get out of the way.

Barber wants to win. I have heard he will remove coaches who don't, regardless of who they are. I prefaced my comments earlier as well, by saying "If what I hear is true", which means I'm not confident, but again, you twist my words to make me seem dumb, so that you can call my statement dumb. Thanks for being ignorant tho, it shows you're really looking to contribute to the discussion. Wasn't it you who posted the crying baby image? Very mature. Way to create an environment to discuss things in a mature manner.

... I'm not your friend. Your internet cool guy routine is nothing short of immature and isn't conducive to anything but making me more upset, which is clearly the intent of some of the people here.

the whole post was good, but this was the most important thing you said. Rocco will need to evaluate how he runs things after the season is over and what he decides then will determine if he is the man for the job, which is why I don't support getting rid of the man after this season

With all of the negative comments in this thread, thought I'd post something positive... Jimmy Eden was dressed, on the sidelines, and ready to go. He's been through so much over the past few months, so it was awesome to see him out there yesterday :D

...Ok, that's all I got.

Before the 2005 season, App State had something like a 6-5 record and puddled out. App fans were calling for him to be fired and saying that they had reached the highest they could with him. That offseason, Jerry Moore looked at his program and did a complete overhaul in philosophy in a few areas. The next year they won their first of three straight national titles. He's now known as one of the greatest coaches in the country.

Everything hinges on where we go from here.
Really good insight,Jon. Didn't know about Moore's turnaround but it certainly is possible here at LU. A victory over SB would certainly quiet some here.

Personally, I wouldn't be quiet at all. I'd be quite happy.

Do you think having the team go down on Thursday affected their play? Based on the twitter comments it appears the break in the normal routine may have played against us. The players were meetings all day Friday or just sitting around waiting for Saturday .

I'm not sure if it did play a part in them focusing on the game but I saw a lot of info that didn't have a whole lot to do with football. I also realize these are college age kids and there is still maturing going on their part.

Yeah. sorta heard the same thing. Players saying their mind frame by Sat was "just wanted to play and get out of there and back to LU".

From one of Lang's postgame articles on the Summers injury/Norman tackle:

"That was one of the few things I didn’t take very well,” Rocco said. “I can take getting my (expletive) kicked and take it like a man. But I didn’t handle that real well. I really felt like it was a little bit out of line."

I don't mind it at all. Quite frankly, I sort of like it. He's a real guy. He was frustrated. 90% of the people on this website say the same thing if not worse when they get frustrated, upset, or angry. Shoot, half the people on here probably say that word as a joke. It happens.

Rocco's not a saint. He's a football coach.

Exactly. I thought a couple of those words when we muffed a punt and a kick off.
