As I said on the score prediction, its my sister's birthday on Saturday. I did some research and Liberty is actually 2-2 when playing on Nov 6.

Most useless stat yet by BJ???
Believe me 09...I can come up with some stuff that would make you shake your head...

The last time LU failed to score at least 10 points at home against a conference opponent was Oct 1, 2005 (which was I think also the last time LU failed to score in double digits at home)

GWU Homer here. I know everybody thinks we stink, but I'm not ready to give up on my boys just yet. There is one interesting statistic that gives us hope in this game and it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Despite our shortcomings, GW is 3rd in the country [#1 in BS] in Pass Defense. Additionally, we are #14 in the country [#1 in BS] in Pass Efficiency Defense. Should be an interesting matchup against your top-ranked passing O. This year has been a learning season for our younger players. We have also missed some top guys like Marty Patterson and Matt Goods on D that has impacted our ability to defend the run. I'm still excited about this game and I'm confident our boys will be ready to play.

I have no idea if this applies to G-W this year, but as a general rule of thumb, teams have good numbers against the pass because they are being run on at will.

I think it's a product of not playing many teams that can pass well, and having a good pass rush.

They've played...

Non-DI Brevard
FBS Akron, who is 112 out of 120 in passing offense and 119 out of 120 in total offense in FBS
WCU, who's 73rd out of 117 FCS in passing
Sam Houston which is 98th
ODU, which is 14th, and beat them 14-7.
Chuck, who, despite being 16th, got a lot of those numbers from Toscano, and G-W played against Trudnowski
Presby, who isn't ranked by the NCAA yet, but Presby was able to run really well on the G-W defense, Dendy had a very good game.
And Coastal, who is 52nd, and beat them in overtime.

Add to that a guy like Pemasa who ranks in the top 25 in Sacks in the nation, and they do a little bit to stop the pass when they actually face the pass, but I wouldn't say they're going to lock us down. Especially since we've only allowed 6 sacks all year, 11th in the nation. Their DB's are going to need to step up in a way they haven't had to before.

Things that have really hurt them this year:

They're worse on Special Teams than we are, at least in the punt/kick returning department.
They're in the bottom 5 in the nation in sacks allowed.
They have a negative turnover margin.
Despite being top 15 in yardage defense, they're middle of the pack in scoring defense.

I know they have a very young defense, or at least some key players are younger. It will be interesting to see how they react to our offense. They did a pretty good job against ODU, who puts up numbers similar to ours. We'll see what happens. 8)

I have to think that they are gonna be looking at the film from the PC-LU game to look at how to game plan for the Brown-Summers connection (they have some pretty big DBs on their roster to be sure)

BOILING SPRINGS — As much as loyal Runnin’ Bulldog fans may want to fret about back-to-back Big South Conference defeats by a mere seven total points, this Gardner-Webb squad has no time for that.

Such is the case when you face a trip this Saturday to play league kingpin Liberty University (3-0, 6-2).

Superjon, if you are talking about the two players who were kicked out of school for disciplinary reasons, I think this will actually be a positive development for GWU. We will likely be minus a few other players due to further injury, but we are hopeful to have a few more back this week that haven't played in a couple of games and will be very much welcomed back. In any event, I look forward to visiting your stadium on Saturday.
