I may be wrong then. Who knows.

As far as Cheerleaders go....this sums up my thoughts on cheerleading. I picked them up from the airport at the WVU game and they were all talking about how nervous they were....like shaking nervous. When I say "they" they didnt mean the obvious answer in "the football team" they meant themselves. I was unaware they took themselves so seriously.
I mean all we can do is speculate....there's no FFers left in Marketing.

So that's what I'll do. Actually, while the Cheer coach is on headset, there are two squads on each side of the field. Jenny is normally with the CoED(student side) but if she wasn't, then there could have been a mixup.

The other question - was there a PA read for t-shirts? That will answer where this error took place.

That usually costs cash, and is early in the day. Both things don't mix with LU kids.

Yes, there was a PA for the t-shirt throw. If the PA guy that does the announcement would only announce it when we're on defense that would solve the problem.

Just do the tosses when we're on defense. :)

Wow. The monotonouscheertwirlers are in the clear then. I can't help at this point....

All I will say is that Jamie doesn't make mistakes.

It's all based on perspective. How many yellow stickered freaking nice cars do you see on campus? Enough to make you puke. They have $$$. Are kids at big time schools just as poor? Yes.

I wouldn't suggest changing the way things are done, but students here have the attitude that going to a Liberty football game should cost you nothing.

There's a set time during each quarter when we throw out t-shirts. It's set in advance, before the game starts. It's supposed to start during the time out and end before the play starts back up. It's been that way for four years. If they're still throwing them out then that's on the people doing the throwing (aka cheerleaders). Jenni can tell them over and over and over to stop but unless they actually pay attention, they're not going to stop.

The fact that our kids would rather pay $7 to watch intramural hockey instead of Division I football is a joke in and of itself.

I know how it worked, big guy :) . You think they'd be that late on a T/O? Well....yes.

AAAAActually, this makes the most sense. The squads take forever to throw out the shirts. But it would hinge on if the read was done late in the TO or on time or during play. I just assumed the read was done during play.

Perceived value. And it's going to be that way for a while. Actually, I don't think we'll charge at the gate for at least 15-20 years.

I know you know. I was adding on to what you said. Most people have no clue how scripted everything during the game is.

Getting back to the game itself:

I think the "backbreaker sequence" in the game was:

1. Fumble by CSU inside our 5 yard line
2. LU Missed Field Goal
3. Interception by Vinson
4. Holloway TD (LU 30-14)
5. CSU TOD
6. Brown TD (LU 37-14 I write "game over" in my notebook)

CSU scores on either #1 or #3 it changes the game completely

That's a long title for having minimal content.

Thank you for getting us back on track. I don't know how we would ever reach the promised land without you, BJMoses.

To get this thread back on track.

In other departments attendance rate (actually showing up and staying) is far better when attendees pay. I wonder if there was a way to take out the activity fee and separate it (still required) so they actually see that they ARE paying for things like Football games so it's prob not a bad idea to show up and stay. Taking out the activity fee all together and paying per game isnt an option for a thousand reasons.

That's why people either: A. Get $5-$10 from mom and dad to pay for the dorm tailgate, or B. Pay the $5-$10 themselves. Not much money. When you have a bunch of people putting that much money together, it all adds up quite nicely. 300-400 bucks nicely. How am I so experienced? That's what we did for our dorm.... (sisters included)
flamesfan30 - then your tailgate was lousy, and needs to step it up a notch in the food category... or you just need to eat more when the opportunity arises

Maybe CSU is getting better but in 07 and 08 we beat them handily with less talent. We had a huge win vs. Ball State and played JMU off their feet, but it is the conference games that count. I think we will win the conference and go to the playoffs, but we have to play with more consistency.

This team had a chance to be the best. As of now they arent in a top 5 IMO

I wasn't able to watch the game itself, but have it on my dvr to watch later on today, but I am glad we got the win. It sounds as if the game was closer then indicated so its good LU could pull this one out.

I said this in another thread about the students, but will repost here because it pretty much sums up what I think about the situation:

"Its been the same story for a couple years now...opening game at Williams the students come out strong then after that begin to fall out...a lot of it has to do with people don't embrace Liberty's athletic teams and a lot of it has to do with a lot of the games are against unknown schools to most of the students, and sadly a lot of it has to do with students don't think we are truly division I so just don't care.

I am not sure if anything can be done about it...it has improved a ton since when I was a freshmen in 2003, but it seems as if it has reached a certain point and stopped growing and I am not sure what you can do to change things at this point"

I was really hoping for a response with substance. Other than the fact that hockey is club, not intramural, I agree with it.

Pure speculation on my end I just think KK and others are prob to busy during the game to tell the Cheerleaders every time they should throw out t-shirts.
Isn't this why they have interns :)

Wow you are an ignorant hater sometimes.
Maybe if they let the students sing "Hey, you suck!" like at the hockey games, this would help.(FYI this is total sarcasm and I hate it when UMD did and when our students do it). I wasn't throwing anyone under the bus but I was just shocked the PA guy said something about t-shirts when the play clock had 12 seconds left and Mike was running out on the field to call the play. Let's blame Streeter instead  .

wow...seriously how does that statement make you come to the conclusion of ignorance? When i was a student not long ago it was the same and it ticked me off. go to the friday night hockey game, go to the football game on sat. it isn't hard. and it makes sense. unless you are from canada or just a die hard hockey fan why pay 7$ (enough to have fun at sheetz) when you can go watch a nationally ranked football team in a shinny new stadium FOR FREE. Don't get me wrong I love our hockey team. I went to roanoke every friday home game when we didn't have lahaye. but its ACHA. Not NCAA. and it wont be for a long time. I dunno I guess I just don't get the appeal over free football.

If you have to spend $7 at Sheetz, you're doing it wrong.

Not if you're doing your grocery shopping. 50cents a dog can go a long way. Of course, coworkers may not like you after day 5.
