I've said in every post that we should win this game.....but this year - we've been pushed around by lesser teams....so there is no such thing as a gimme. Especially this week.
I don't see how you guys can argue against this. The man speaks the truth.

He has no recruiting budget, no TV exposure deals, no 12K seat stadium, no locker room, no one to clean up the dog crap that sits on the 35 yard line, and a better football program from a better conference within 10 miles.

Danny is a great coach. But if/when he leaves I fully expect Jay Mills to send in a resume. He probably won't get hired, but his resume won't get thrown in the trash......unlike a certain FIFA broadcaster, who as an OC in a Coaching Football class once drew up a 9 man defense and still managed to write a play that wouldn't work against it.

REALLY? YOU THINK THAT'S WRONG?

Shocker.

For my money, Mills is the best coach in the conference. In fact, when there were rumors of DR leaving, I hoped he'd be the guy we'd pick up. However, knowing our AD, we'd probably get a USC assistant instead.

Put Jay Mills in the Liberty Budget with Williams Stadium and the FOC and the campus, and he'd have LU as a top 10 team right now.

Possibly. But it's hard to know as he's never been anywhere close to what we could offer him as a program. He could just be a guy that gets the most out of "the little guy", but wouldn't be able to do the same as "the big guy."

That's true. Wish we'd get a chance to see, maybe not at LU, but somewhere else.

One thing with Mills.....if he coached for Liberty.....expectations>>>>>>>anything he's ever done. Of course, his salary would triple, so I'd expect his ability to also.....triple. It'd be a whole new world for him - so I'm not convinced JM would have the team in a better spot. IMO the biggest thing we can fault DR for right now is not having his guys motivated when playing lesser teams. Jay has 0 experience coaching in this situation.

I think the world of him, but moving up the ladder is going to be difficult if he stays as a HC.

Very true. I tried to say that....but ended up with a mile long incoherent rant.

I'd like to see as well, but if he's moving out of the Big South then CSU becomes 100x more irrelevant than they are now. Think the BSC is a joke now? Ha.

Yeah, CSU would be Presby 2.0 without Mills.

The whole conference? Sure. Let me ask you something. From what you've seen of the team this year....are we going to blow out the entire conference?

From what Ive seen...no. Course last year we expected some close games and we dropped 58 on Coastal (who we had beaten by 5 the year before), 55 on Presbyterian (who had beaten us the year before, 54 on VMI and 51 on G-W and if not for a missed coverage against Stony Brook own our third outright Big South title. I have us for sure routing PC and VMI (and yes I remember when we played in PC in Clinton in 08), beating CSU soundly, edging Coastal (because Coastal in Myrtle Beach has been close the last couple times we've been there), beating G-W and going to an overtime shootout with SBU.
#323267
So basically, you see us blowing out CSU, who beat SBU, but narrowly beating SBU, who beat us?

So you're not basing this off of anything, yet you want us to prove why we disagree.

Got it.

I think LU will keep CSU off the board enough with the first teamers to get a good margin and then the backups allow a TD or two late to bring it to the 11 point margin. I will say this though...if we get the LU that was at RMU a few weeks ago, we will definitely get beat. One thing I noticed in both the St Fran game and the Savannah State game, is that there was always one play followed by a stop on defense that seemed to light the fuse if you will. Against St Fran, it was the Pat Kelly catch and run (then the Summers hail mary catch at the half pretty much broke their back). Against Savannah St, it was actually the opening kickoff even though it was called back due to a penalty (then we go right down the field and score the TD anyway).

Now if that sequence I just referenced doesnt happen (LU scores on a big play, stops CSU or forces a turnover and then turns around and scores again), and they hang right with us, I could see them winning this time

However, the idea we'll be beating them bad enough to put our backups in is laughable.

I'll make every post in pink font for the next week if we put in our backups (not just Brennan, all the backups) with more than 10 minutes left.

Just to make sure you dont try to delete it in case that does happen

I'm a big time Jay Mills fan and think he's a great coach, but there's a reason he's been passed over for every single job outside of CSU in the past 3-4 years. He's applied for most of the good ones too. The guy is a genius with X's and O's but he's not a great communicator and has a problem getting what he knows to work to translate to athletes.

Probably doesn't help that his resume consists of football powerhouses.....Harvard, CSU, Minnesota Morris....and ends there.
