Great win guys. I don't have anymore ties to LU(my nephew played there), but I will always be an LU FAN. Chris Summers has really come into his own and deserves props. The d-line did a great job also. I look forward to watching LU have it's best season in years. Hopefully this is the game we can look back and say, the program grew up. Big win in a hostile environment. Let's not look past next week and let's look forward to knocking off an FCS powerhouse in 2 weeks. GO LU!!!!!!!!!!

Great win, I just think back to before the season everyone was all worried about who was going to be the other receiver's besides Summers. Looks like we have several rock solid candidates. They really blanketed Garner after he made those plays early in the game. I am still just amazed we've become such a passing team. 5 carries from the RB's last night. Our run game is basically Mike Brown so far. That's one thing we need to work on this week against Robert Morris. We need to find some way to produce some rushing yards on the ground. I know the game plan was to attack through the air and that has worked out great but at some point this season we've got to get a semblance of a running attack going. Great win for the flames tho, i thought we had the better team and if it weren't for the INT's we wouldve won by atleast 2 TD's. One other note, i think the broadcast team is rock solid. JE was a legend and eveything he did was appreciable but there's a time for everything to end and I really like the direction of the broadcast team as well.

What a great day and night yesterday. Starting with VT losing to JMU and ending with our great win last night.

The most impressive and best feeling after the W is we still have alot to improve upon. MB threw 3 interceptions, I doubt he has a multi-interception game the rest of his career. We have no run game but im confident holloway, davis, and barnett will get going before too long. What a great win for the program, but as DR said there will be bigger games this year

The more I look at it the less I worry about our running game, simply because as you mentioned the running backs had 5 carries. What can they do with 5 carries?

Right that's my point but we need to find abit of the Running game with the backs because you dont want to have to air it out all the time. If you do some INT's are going to happen, That was my point. I understand completely that our gamplan was attack their outside. Hopefully we don't overlook Robert Morris and get this run game (other than MB) going.

Seemed like we were going with more of a West Coast offense type scheme where short quick passes is your running game.

That's exactly what we did. We knew they were going to bring tons of pressure with the front seven so we made our run game screens and little things like that.

First of all, great sig banner, SJ!

I would also like to see a little more balance from the offense. Not that Mike Brown can't do it all, because he obviously can, but every time he takes off, he risks getting injured. Again, he needs to use his legs to help us win, but there are other guys on the team that have full-rides to do exactly that.

Oooooh! Thanks! I'm sure I would have figured that out if it had the .com on the end :)

Gettin' some ESPN love

http://espn.go.com/ncf/notebook/_/page/ ... 101/week-1

In the first two weeks of the season alone, five FCS teams have defeated FBS opponents: Jacksonville (Ala.) State stunned Ole Miss 49-48 in two overtimes, North Dakota State beat Kansas 6-3, South Dakota defeated Minnesota 41-38, Gardner-Webb beat Akron 38-37 in overtime and Liberty shocked Ball State 27-23.

I was watching the replay on Ball state.com, all I need to say is we need to pick it up on the running game as we always like to dominate that year and year out if we want to win the BS and have a deep run in the playoffs. I don't know about everyone, and I love Mike and all that but is it just me or doe some of his throws just look like they were loobed or floated up there to Summers and Hayes other receivers and that is why were picked off so much. There needs to be some ummph behind those throws and the receivers need to get positive control of the football. They need some pointers from summers on catching the ball. I think I like Mike better as a receiver than a OB. I'm not hating. I guess we will have to see how he develops throughout the season as a QB and he can be a better QB. What I really like about Mike though is his decision making its quick and decisive. He pulls the trigger pretty fast and I like that. I just think he needs time to develop and he hasn't thrown much since the Laffy game and high school. I will cut him a break.

I know a couple of Mike's INT's were just him failing to see a LB or DB playing underneath the route and to the inside, and he was looking to the guy on the outside running the route. Probably telegraphed it a bit, too.

Then there was the one he overthrew down the sideline. That was the one that was returned, if I remember correctly. Just was a miscommunication, or a poor attempt to throw it out of bounds.

Frankly all three picks were related to relative inexperience. I know he has been around the program for several years but he doesn't have a ton of experience reading disguised coverages in game situations yet. The one I am thinking about in particular was the one were he rolling out up near the far sideline and he stopped and tried to throw it back toward midfield. Without even seeing where he was throwing I gasped. The good news is that his hard lessons didn't cost us a game. Hopefully those are situations where he'll make better choices as the year progresses. With his freakish athleticism I'd generally rather he tuck it & run than force a throw into tight coverage.

Before Saturday, I would've said the same thing. But early on, I began to believe the staff preferred he not run so much. Then I was confirmed when they ran him by design in the 4th quarter. They're saving his legs for when they really need them. Also, he's not nearly as prone so far this year to put his head down at the end of runs and initiate contact for extra yardage. All of this seems by careful design of Rocco, Streeter, et. al. - and I applaud them for it.

It was even more the case against St. Francis when it looked like Mike had been told not to run at all. I just hate seeing Mike having to make decision on the fly in slow developing plays. When it doubt, run Mike run.
