The game went just about how I thought it would except the final score.
You guys have a great coach and staff, QB and supporting cast of talented players!
Coach Parrish was right about Brown and speaking of QB's I think we may have found one in true freshman Keith Wenning!
I have enjoyed getting to watch your team and posting with all of you on this board!
Del Flame wrote:I agree, Bigfoot4049, it looks like you did find yourself a QB. Wenning played very well. His passes were right on the money and he showed poise throughout the second half.Ball State will be fine and needs to get focused on the Boilermakers. I was impressed with Wenning but boy would I love to have Mr. Brown on our team that kid was really fun to watch.
Hope the rest of the season goes well!

Mike Connolly jumped on this loose football to secure Liberty's stunning 27-23 victory over Ball State on Saturday, the team's second win over a FBS team in program history.
Completing a day of upsets for Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) programs, Liberty became the fourth FCS program to down a FBS team on Saturday. The Flames used a late touchdown by Mike Brown and numerous key defensive stands to upend Ball State, 27-23, inside Scheumann Stadium.
The win upped Liberty's record to 2-0 on the year and marked the program's second victory over a FBS team. The first came in a 25-24 stunner on Oct. 14, 1989, against another Mid-American Conference opponent, Eastern Michigan, in Ypsilanti, Mich.

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State football team dropped its first game of the season Saturday evening as the Cardinals suffered a 27-23 defeat to visiting Liberty at Scheumann Stadium. The Cardinals rallied from a 14-3 first half deficit to take a second half lead before Liberty scored the go ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
"You have to make plays if you want to win," head coach Stan Parrish said. "We dug ourselves in a big hole but we made a great comeback. We made a couple of good plays late, drove it down but could not get it done at the end. Liberty is a good football team, I tried to tell everyone that this week. Their team could certainly compete in the Mid-American Conference."

MUNCIE, Ind. — Asa Chapman’s goal was simple. Push the line. Get some pressure. Make Ball State quarterback Keith Wenning uncomfortable.
Chapman, Liberty’s massive, 6-foot-5, 380-pound nose tackle did more than that Saturday night at Scheumann Stadium. He not only pushed the Ball State line. He moved it. And when Wenning tried to cock his arm to throw on the game’s most important play, he found Chapman’s big paw right in his face.
So on 4th-and-2 with the game on the line, Chapman knocked the ball loose, sacked Wenning and forced a fumble, leading to a wild celebration on the Flames’ sideline as they realized that they’d pulled an upset 21 years in the making.
“Every time I threw an interception tonight, I looked at the scoreboard and said, ‘You know, we’re still in this game,’” Brown said. “Coach Rocco came up to me before that last drive and said, ‘Look, we just need you to lead us on one drive. That’s all we need.’”Click Here for Full Story

MUNCIE, Ind. — Liberty’s top two tailbacks — Korrey Davis and SirChauncey Holloway — combined for eight yards on five carries in the Flames’ 27-23 victory over Ball State on Saturday night.
A great job by the Cardinals’ defense, or a calculated gameplan by Liberty’s coaching staff?
It was certainly more of the latter. Liberty coach Danny Rocco and offensive coordinator Brandon Streeter put together a package of plays that included screen passes, short outs and throws to the tailbacks on the outside. And the only player running the ball with regularity Saturday was Brown, who took off on designed draws and scrambles around the edge.
bozlady wrote:So the LU Flames equipment truck driver just called me and told me that the team was singing in the locker room after the win. There was one song and maybe you guys know it but it was from the movie, "The Replacements" (I haven't watched this movie all the way through just b/c I don't like it and believe you me, I love football movies.....anyways) My hubby said it was the song when characters in the movie are in jail. Does anyone know what that song is?? I was also told the Flames were singing the "Star Spangled Banner"...I am thinking it was Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive".
